Greater Saskatoon Catholic Schools welcomes applications for the position of Facilities Manager - commencing September 15, 2025 (or another mutually agreed upon date). This is a full-time out-of-scope position with occasional evening and/or weekend work required.
Greater Saskatoon Catholic Schools is Saskatchewan's largest Catholic school division, serving more than 22,000 students across 50 schools in Saskatoon, Biggar, Humboldt, Warman and Martensville. Reporting to the Assistant Superintendent of Facilities, the Facilities Manager will provide leadership and strategic oversight for the operations, maintenance, and development of Greater Saskatoon Catholic Schools' facilities. This position ensures that all buildings and grounds are safe, efficient, and aligned with the Division's mission to nurture faith, promote excellence in education, and foster stewardship of resources.
Responsibilities for this position include:

  • Leadership of facility operations
  • Overseeing the daily operations and maintenance of all school division buildings and grounds
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and building code regulations
  • Manage preventive maintenance programs to optimize the lifespan of physical assets
  • Coordinate with custodial and maintenance staff to ensure consistent service standards
  • Project Management
  • Lead planning, budgeting, and execution of facility projects including renovations, upgrades, and new construction
  • Collaborate with consultants, contractors, and internal stakeholders to deliver projects on time and within budget
  • Maintain accurate project documentation and ensure alignment with Division goals and policies
  • Leadership in stewardship of people, buildings and grounds
  • Provide guidance, mentorship, and performance management to a team of maintenance and caretaking staff
  • Foster a collaborative and respectful workplace culture rooted in Catholic values
  • Identify training and development opportunities to support employee growth and succession planning
  • Promote a culture of accountability, safety, and service excellence
  • Ensure responsible and sustainable use of resources in alignment with environmental and fiscal priorities
  • Develop and manage facilities budgets, ensuring efficient use of funds
  • Engage with school communities to understand and address facility-related needs
  • Contribute to long-term planning for capital improvements and facility life cycle management
Qualifications, competencies and other requirements for this position include:
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive leadership experience in facilities operations or a similar role
  • Post-secondary education in facilities management, engineering, construction, or a related field
  • Proven leadership and team-building skills
  • Strong knowledge of the Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS)
  • Strong understanding of building systems and project management best practices
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License
  • Working knowledge of legislation & applicable codes that apply to educational facilities
  • Commitment to the mission and values of Catholic education
  • Publicly supporting the school division's philosophy, policies, and programs
  • Travel between school division sites as required
  • Participating in division-wide strategic planning and emergency response coordination
