Facilities Manager

Job Description

We have partnered with a leader in the defense industry to hire a hands-on and detail-focused Facilities Manager to oversee the building systems and infrastructure at their electronics manufacturing facility. Reporting to the Director of Manufacturing Engineering, this role is key to ensuring safe, efficient, and reliable facility operations that support production goals.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage all building systems including HVAC, electrical, and compressed air systems.
  • Develop and lead preventive maintenance programs to reduce downtime.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 and other regulatory standards.
  • Work closely with production, engineering, EHS, and quality teams to align facility support with operational needs.
  • Oversee contractors and vendors for maintenance and facility projects.
  • Lead facility upgrades, equipment installations, and layout changes.
  • Manage budgets for maintenance and capital projects.
  • Maintain accurate documentation (layouts, permits, inspections, etc.).
  • Support emergency response planning and procedures.
Requirements:
  • 5+ years of experience in facilities management within electronics or high-tech manufacturing.
  • Bachelor's degree in Facilities Management, Mechanical/Electrical/Industrial Engineering, or related field.
  • Knowledge of HVAC, electrical, and compressed air systems.
  • Familiar with ISO 9001 and facility compliance standards.
  • Strong understanding of Canadian and Nova Scotia building codes.
  • Proficient with CMMS, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office.
  • Certifications like CFM, FMP, or Lean Six Sigma are a plus.
  • Experience in the Aerospace & Defense industry is preferred.
  • Eligible for Secret Security Clearance at time of hire.
Working Conditions:
  • On-site role at a manufacturing facility.
  • May require after-hours or weekend work for urgent issues.
  • Some physical activity required (walking, climbing ladders, lifting).
