Overview
As the Facilities Maintenance Technician (FMT) level 4, you are responsible for performing preventative maintenance, handy-man services, troubleshooting and repairs on the facilities and equipment of properties within the portfolio Quantum Realty Management Incorporated (QRMI). The position requires a proactive, innovative and analytical individual who can perform in a fast paced work environment.
Scope
Reporting to the lead of Facilities and Real Estate, you will be supporting the operational effectiveness of QRMI by conducting routine building maintenance, responding to breakdowns and facilities requests of staff, tenants and customers, trouble shooting, analyzing and repairing building and equipment, project work. Works with the staff, tenants and customers as required. You are to continuously promote safety in the work area by understanding and complying with all established safety procedures. The lead of Facilities and Real Estate may request other duties as required.
Principal Responsibilities
Maintenance and Repair Respond to Work Order requests from the company portfolio, taking the appropriate actions Repair, source and/or replace building, equipment and materials Perform handy-man repair services Perform exterior grounds inspections and services as required Respond to emergency calls as needed Continuous Improvement mindset
Inventory Management Maintain inventory of company owned tools, equipment and materials Maintain accurate records on materials purchased and used
Health and Safety Promote and endorse Safety vision “Safety is our way of life” Observe and support the Quantum Enterprise Safe Work guidelines and other safe work practices Role models the importance of health and safety by always working safely and call out and address safety issues Joint Health & Safety Committee Member Recognize risks which may pose a danger to Team Members and resolve such issues (where possible) or modify work, minimizing the risk to Team Member/customer until resolution can be sourced and implemented Operate tools and equipment according to established safety procedures Follow established safety procedure and techniques to perform duties of job, including but not limited to lifting, climbing, etc. Ensure that building and equipment are in safe operating condition
Equipment Used Meters, gages, grinding, ladder, hoist, scissor lift, articulated boom lift, hand and power tools, pipe bender, propane torch, fork lifts, lift trucks.
Key Area of Responsibility Communicate with facility management, team members, tenants and customers of company Special projects as assigned by the lead of Facilities and Real Estate
Education, Training/Trades and/or Work Experience Requirements
Education High school diploma with completion of an industrial maintenance vocational or technical school program preferred Strong technical problems-solving skills Knowledge of WHIMIS, Food Safety and Health & Safety practices
Work Experience 1-3 years’ experience with general building and equipment maintenance and handy-man services Specialized skills such as electrical, mechanical and welding etc. is highly recommended
Environment and Job Physical Requirements Well groomed appearance Travelling may be required Must be physically capable of frequently lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. Must be able to frequently walk, stand, bend, kneel, for sustained periods of time Work is performed in an Office, mechanical and electrical rooms, roof tops and outside environment with exposure to various temperatures
