Description:

This Facilities Engineering role focuses on the Water Treatment & Deoiling (WT/DO) area and is part of an integrated team within Surmont operations. The WT/DO Facilities Engineer works closely with site operations, and the Production Delivery Team, leveraging an engineering skillset to extract maximum value from the facilities while carefully managing the Health, Safety and the Environmental impacts related to operation. This is a Calgary-based role on a 5/2 schedule.

Responsibilities:

  • Support and adhere to ConocoPhillips Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) management system
  • Ensure HSE issues are given priority consideration by complying with all corporate and operating procedures to align with corporate safety standards and expectations
  • Water Treatment & Deoiling area optimization and maintaining on-spec water quality
  • Daily operational process performance monitoring and troubleshooting as well as reporting on facility KPIs (key performance indicators)
  • Evaluating and proposing solutions to operational and equipment challenges
  • Manage minor scope engineering changes from conception to implementation
  • Manage the portfolio of multiple short \xe2\x80\x93 medium term opportunities within Water Treatment & Deoiling
Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
  • Recognized degree in Engineering from an accredited university
  • Active professional membership with APEGA
  • 5+ years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in water treatment
  • Experience and ability to work within a team-oriented and diverse cultural environment
  • Strong written and oral communications skills
  • Legally authorized to work in Canada on a full-time basis without restrictions
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with SAGD (steam assisted gravity drainage) or CSS (cyclical steam simulation) deoiling and water treatment equipment such as hot/warm/cold lime softeners (HLS/WLS/CLS)
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills, and good written communication skills
  • Accepts ownership, is accountable and delivers on commitments
  • Able to establish and manage priorities
  • Strong team skills to build consensus across organizational lines
