Duties



Assist skilled fabricators with cutting, shaping, and assembling sheet metal and ductwork using hand tools, power tools, plasma cutters, and press brake machines. Learn to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to ensure accurate fabrication and assembly of components. Support welding operations by practicing MIG (Metal Inert Gas), TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas), FCAW (Flux-Cored Arc Welding), and welding techniques under supervision. Operate forklifts, rigging equipment, and other machinery safely to transport materials around the shop or construction site. Measure materials precisely using calipers, micrometers, and other measuring tools to meet specifications. Assist with pipe threading, soldering, machining, and plasma cutting tasks as part of fabrication projects. Follow safety procedures adhering to ASME codes & standards while maintaining a clean and organized work environment. Support the assembly of fabricated parts into larger systems or structures following detailed schematics. Participate in basic math calculations related to measurements, material quantities, and project dimensions. Collaborate with team members on construction site tasks involving ductwork installation, mechanical assembly, or manufacturing processes.

Skills



Prior construction site experience or familiarity with building environments is highly desirable. Proficiency with MIG welding; experience with TIG welding or FCAW is a plus. Ability to operate cranes and forklifts safely; certification is preferred but not mandatory. Skilled in using calipers, micrometers, hand tools, power tools, and press brake machines for precise fabrication work. Strong understanding of blueprint reading, schematics interpretation, and mechanical drawings. Knowledge of sheet metal fabrication techniques including plasma cutting and bending processes. Basic math skills for measurements and calculations related to fabrication projects. Mechanical aptitude with an understanding of rigging, pipe threading, soldering, machining operations, and assembly procedures. Familiarity with safety standards such as ASME codes & standards for manufacturing and construction environments. Pay: $25.76-$51.52 per hour
