University Health Network (UHN) is a research hospital affiliated with the University of Toronto and a member of the Toronto Academic Health Science Network. Research across UHN\'s five research institutes spans the full spectrum of diseases and disciplines, including cancer, cardiovascular sciences, transplantation, neural and sensory sciences, musculoskeletal health, rehabilitation sciences, and community and population health.

The Gattuso Centre for Social Medicine seeks to address health inequities, working alongside community organizations, UHN clinicians, marginalized populations, persons with lived experience, patients, and all levels of policymaking to co-design, evaluate, and scale innovative data-driven programs that lead to better health. Applying a social determinants of health approach, the Social Medicine and Population Health Program aims to bridge health services and the broader social environment of UHN\xe2\x80\x99s most medically and socially complex patients with the highest needs through the design, implementation, research and evaluation of new care models and initiatives to address the health implications of inequity

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Supports in planning, developing, monitoring and evaluating integrated outreach strategies, interventions and initiatives across all audiences and communications channels, consulting strategically with the Executive Director.
  • Fosters relationships with strategic partners and viewing each action as it relates to the organization\'s larger strategic mission.
  • Collaborates across departments to determine and implement operational strategies
  • Provides advice and guidance on issues management and communications strategies and approaches to the Executive Director, partners in other areas and across all levels of the organization.
  • Takes a lead role in writing and/or overseeing the development and editing of a wide range of external communications materials and content, working across all platforms and channels.
  • Reviews and edits the written work of other staff
  • Coordinates closely with the UHN Foundation
  • Ensures high standards are met and provides advice and feedback on best practices.
  • Prepares other documents and materials, including talking points, key messages, FAQs and briefs
  • Works closely with the Executive Director to develop work plans, assess and establish processes, solve problems and enhance the delivery of strategic communications across the organization.
  • Contributes to both the day-to-day work of the Centre and to its longer term strategic growth and development.
  • Collaborates with staff from many different clinical divisions and research programs as well as other key stakeholders to understand program goals
  • Works proactively to identify and develop strategic partnerships with external/internal stakeholders
  • Identifies risks and develops mitigation strategies including the daily operations and stakeholder opposition risk
Job Requirements

Education:
  • Completion of a recognized post-secondary degree program
Experience:
  • Seven (7) years experience required
Vaccines (COVID-19 and others) are a requirement of the job unless you have an exemption on a medical ground pursuant to the Ontario Human Rights Code
