We are currently seeking a qualified Export Compliance Analyst.
As an Export Compliance Analyst, you will be the primary point of contact for all international trade, export, and customs compliance matters. You will manage end-to-end export compliance activities, support shipping and logistics operations, and ensure adherence to Canadian and U.S. export control regulations while supporting on-time delivery commitments.
This role requires strong regulatory knowledge, hands-on logistics experience, and the ability to balance compliance requirements with operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the main point of contact for international trade, export, and customs compliance matters.
• Ensure compliance with Canadian export/import laws and U.S. extra-territorial export control regulations (ITAR/EAR).
• Manage and track all export compliance activities in a defense manufacturing environment.
• Provide guidance to shipping and logistics teams on customs, export, and import requirements.
• Verify tariff treatment at the B3 level, ensuring correct tariff application.
• Obtain, manage, and track End User Statements, Export Permits, and U.S. re-export authorizations.
• Validate export jurisdiction and classification (ECCN, USML, ECL, HS codes) for purchased and manufactured items in collaboration with Engineering, Procurement, and Global Trade Compliance teams.
• Enter and manage export permit applications in the Government of Canada EXCOL system.
• Establish systems to monitor upcoming shipments and export permit requirements to support on-time delivery (OTD) targets.
• Prepare export documentation and arrange transportation via air, ocean, and ground, including CERS filings.
• Liaise with freight forwarders and manage Commercial and Government Bills of Lading (CBL/GBL).
• Coordinate import documentation for incoming international shipments.
• Ensure compliance with customer-specific shipping instructions, labelling, and supplier portal requirements.
• Ensure dangerous goods packaging and documentation meet regulatory requirements.
• Review, approve, and optimize logistics costs, including freight and customs broker invoices.
• Recommend efficient material movement strategies that balance cost, schedule, and compliance.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, customers, and logistics partners.
• Ensure all activities comply with the Quality Management System (QMS) and Health & Safety procedures.

Basic Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years' experience managing an export compliance program.
• Post-secondary education (certificate or diploma) in a related field.
• Experience in defense and/or aerospace manufacturing is a strong asset.

• In-depth knowledge of: Canada's Export & Import Permits Act (EIPA), Controlled Goods Program (CGP), ITAR and EAR, EXCOL (New EXCOL), Canadian Export Reporting System (CERS)
• Experience with U.S. export licenses, TAAs, and MLAs.
• Strong understanding of trade agreements (CUSMA/USMCA, CETA, CPTPP, CKFTA, Canada-UK TCA).
• Advanced understanding of Incoterms and international shipping practices.
• Experience assigning Harmonized Tariff Codes (HS) and export classifications.
• Working knowledge of Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) regulations.
• Experience with Restricted Party Screening (RPS).
• Familiarity with ERP systems, preferably Oracle EBS.
• Experience with WAWF/PIEE and Repairables Portals is an asset.
• Experience with MIL-SPEC-2073 packaging and labelling is an asset.
• Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
• Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Compensation: $75,000 - $105,000 CAD (annual salary)

This ensures compensation is fair and aligned with the specific requirements and attributes of each candidate.
