About the Role:



Reporting to the Chair, Kinesiology, the incumbent identifies, cultivates, and maintains relationships with the objective of sourcing and maintaining experiential education (EE) opportunities that support the goals and curriculum of various undergraduate and graduate courses within the Department of Kinesiology. The Experiential Education Coordinator is responsible for collaborating with and supporting the Department with experiential education (EE) planning, design, implementation, and evaluation,?and?for achieving synergies and?creating/sharing best practices with peers across campus.

The Experiential Education Coordinator will:



Identify, initiate, cultivate, and maintain relationships with community partners to provide appropriate EE opportunities for students within programs; Meet with community partners, both internal and external, to determine expectations for EE; Act as an ambassador for Brock, the Faculty of Applied Health Sciences (FAHS) and the Department of Kinesiology at community functions, events and when working with community partners, to build relationships and respond to issues pertaining to EE; Work with peers in FAHS and the University to ensure a cohesive approach to partnership development and management, including streamlined and efficient communication processes; Create and maintain and/or contribute to a database of EE opportunities at local, national, and international levels; Assist in the development of short and long-term plans for the Department of Kinesiology, related to undergraduate and graduate internships, placements, and all aspects of EE; Consult with faculty members in the Department of Kinesiology about expanding EE in their courses; Communicate with relevant faculty and other EECs regarding potential internal and external funding or resource support opportunities that arise for EE; Ensure that policies, processes, and procedures are followed for student placements and internships (e.g., criminal checks, workplace health and safety, appropriate training, risk management, insurance, etc.); Report on all aspects of EE for the FAHS and the Department of Kinesiology, including summaries and recommendations related to the strategic direction of EE; Participate in University committees related to service-learning and/or EE and Accessibility Committee, including related events. Coordinate the existing programs within the Department of Kinesiology and provide ongoing support and liaison for faculty, staff, TA's, undergraduate students and graduate students related to physical activity experiential learning for diverse populations; Support the design, development, evaluation, and administration of internship, experiential and practical courses in the Department of Kinesiology; Support the Marketing of and Communications related to the programs offered by the Department of Kinesiology, FAHS and across the University to deliver messaging about activities and successes; Support recruitment initiatives of the Department of Kinesiology, FAHS, and the University.

Key Skills and Experience:



A bachelor's degree in a related field; Relevant professional experience, including work in the field of experiential education, sales and/or relationship management experience; Familiarity and previous work experience with the Department of Kinesiology; Experience with the programs offered by the Department of Kinesiology and FAHS; Knowledge of the theoretical and practical aspects of experiential learning; Excellent communication skills demonstrated with community partners, students, staff and faculty; Knowledge of related internal and external University policies; Practical knowledge of and commitment to community engagement; Solid computer competency including word processing, spreadsheet, database, web applications and web maintenance, social media, and Brightspace; The ability to develop nuanced messaging, demonstrate the value of EE and ask community partners for support in providing EE opportunities; Ability to manage relationships, communicate tactfully and diplomatically and resolve conflicts; Strong administrative, organizational and time management skills; Strong judgment, analytical, and problem-solving skills with the ability to assess a situation and take appropriate action; Ability to take initiative in developing new and expanding existing experiential education opportunities and partnerships.

Preferred or Asset Skills:



Comprehensive understanding of University/public sector governance, policies, procedures and culture.

Salary and Total Rewards:



Job Grade L, Salary Scale ($66,817-$108,353); Target Hiring Range: $66,817-$68,000 This is a permanent position that includes:

The final salary is based on experience, internal equity, and budget considerations within the target hiring range.*
