Tutor Doctor - Experienced Tutor for Student with Autism and Early Reading Needs

Tutor Doctor provides affordable one-on-one in-home and online tutoring services. We service the entire Fraser Valley: Abbotsford, Chilliwack, Mission, and Aldergrove.

We are currently seeking a tutor to support a Grade 5 student at Yarrow Elementary.

This learner has autism and presents with some learning and behavioral challenges, but he is also a very kind, energetic, and talkative child. He thrives in sessions that are fun, creative, and game-oriented, and he has strong interests in Lego, building activities, and games.

At present, Hampton's reading level is approximately Kindergarten to Grade 1. The family's goal is for him to reach at least a Grade 2-3 reading level before then. Tutoring will take place

in-home, one to two times per week in YARROW.

Responsibilities:

Provide one-on-one academic support with a focus on early reading development. Create personalized, engaging lessons that incorporate Hampton's interests (Lego, games, building activities) to make learning fun and effective. Adapt teaching strategies to support the learner's unique learning style and needs. Foster confidence, motivation, and a positive attitude toward learning. Communicate progress regularly with the learner's family and the Tutor Doctor team.

Requirements:

Experience working with children with autism and/or learning and behavioral differences. Strong background in early reading instruction and literacy development. Patient, empathetic, and creative, with the ability to make sessions interactive and game-based. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Reliable transportation to provide in-home tutoring in YARROW
