We're currently seeking
Experienced Pipelayers
to join our team for a project based in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories.
The
Pipelayer
installs underground utilities, including water, sewer, and storm drainage systems, to support construction projects. In this role, you will be actively involved throughout the construction process and will be responsible for laying pipe, operating and maintaining compaction equipment, preparing the site, and assisting with excavation activities.
Responsibilities:
Install water, storm, and sanitary pipe systems according to engineered drawings and specifications.
Perform trench excavation using equipment or hand tools when required.
Set grades, slopes, and elevations for pipe installation using lasers, transits, or GPS systems.
Place, align, and connect pipe and fittings, ensuring proper joint seals and alignment.
Install manholes, catch basins, and other related structures.
Bed and backfill pipe using appropriate materials and compaction equipment.
Conduct daily site and trench assessments to identify potential hazards and ensure safety compliance.
Collaborate with heavy equipment operators, foremen, and other crew members to complete tasks safely and efficiently.
Operate compaction and small tools safely and perform basic maintenance when needed.
Assist with general labour tasks as needed on the job site.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas and equipment.
Participate in daily toolbox talks, safety meetings, and other job-related training.
Qualifications:
Minimum
5 years of experience
in pipe laying and civil construction.
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and grades.
Proven ability to work independently and lead crews when required.
Comfortable working around live utilities and in challenging site conditions.
Strong safety track record and understanding of OH&S regulations.
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to and from work.
Physically fit and able to work long hours outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Willingness to work extended hours, weekends, or in remote locations as required.

Compensation & Schedule
Wage: $38.00-$43.00 per hour (based on experience)
Shifts: Approx. 21 days on / 7 days off, scheduled to include long weekends where possible
Minimum 8 hours pay per workday, even in case of site delays or shutdowns
Work commences immediately

$100/day meal allowance
$10/hour completion bonus, paid out at end of project term (conditions apply)
