Nelson Family Eyecare is searching for an Experienced Optometric Assistant or Optician, who is interested in long-term employment, to join our team.

Nelson Family Eyecare is a trusted local optometry clinic for over 100 years. We offer in-depth eye health exams, pre-and post-surgical management, contact lens fittings and a large array of eyeglass styles for every budget. We ensure our patients have all the resources to keep their vision in the best possible focus.

Part-time

Pay:

Competitive pay commensurate with experience and qualifications

Expected hours:

No less than 16 per week, possibly more

Schedule:

8 hour shifts

Office hours:

Monday-Wednesday, Friday 8:30am-5:00pm Thursday 7:30am-7:00pm Saturday 8:30am-4:00pm

In person, Nelson, BC

Primary Responsibilities:

Educate and assist patients of all ages in frame and lens selection/care based on their prescriptions and lifestyle Measure and fit eyewear Adjust and repair patient frames Troubleshoot patient adaptation or visual challenges Verify several types of lenses for quality and accuracy Work with Optometrists and colleagues to ensure a positive patient experience Create work orders for lab technicians and provide relevant information for them to make new lenses

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:

Experience in eyecare or optical is required Familiarity with optical products and services Work well in a team-based setting Effective communication Ability to multi-task and focus in a fast-paced work environment Capacity to learn new technology and adapt to changing office procedures
