We are seeking a skilled and reliable part-time, casual, "relief" roll-off bin truck driver wanted for this coming December. This position has the potential to lead to future work afterwards. The ideal candidate will be responsible for safely operating roll-off trucks to transport waste and recyclable materials. This role requires a strong commitment to safety, excellent driving skills, and the ability to manage various types of equipment. The Roll Off Driver will ensure timely deliveries and pickups while adhering to all traffic regulations and company policies.
Duties
Operate roll-off trucks in a safe and efficient manner, ensuring compliance with all traffic laws and safety regulations.
Load and unload materials using appropriate equipment, including dump trucks.
Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure proper functioning and safety.
Maintain accurate records of deliveries, pickups, and any incidents that occur during transport.
Communicate effectively with dispatchers and other team members regarding route changes or delays.
Perform routine maintenance on the truck as needed, reporting any mechanical issues promptly.
Follow assigned routes for delivery and pickup, ensuring timely service to customers.
Skills
Proficient in driving various types of commercial vehicles, including roll-off trucks. Dump truck & pup trailer experience is an asset & would lead to more hours (if desired).
Experience with manual transmission vehicles is preferred.
Strong background in truck driving with a focus on delivery driver experience.
Ability to load and unload freight efficiently while adhering to safety standards.
Familiarity with route driving techniques to optimize delivery schedules.
Knowledge of operating dump trucks & pup trailers is advantageous.
Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with customers and team members.
Class 1 or 3 BCDL required (please note experience on resume/cover letter)
Clean driver's abstract
Experience with gravel trucks & trailers, Stellar roll-off bin systems or other heavy equipment an asset (we are happy to train the right candidate if needed)
Positive, easy going attitude, sense of humor, reliable, punctual (expected to be on time, professional when interacting with customers, submitting paperwork in order & on time, taking pride in your work - keeping trucks clean and reporting all issues)
Yard located on Stebbings Rd (in South Shawnigan Lake)
Own PPE required (hard hat, high viz vest, steel-toed boots)
Wage negotiable based on experience including potential opportunity for more permanent work.
