The EVP & CME works collaboratively with numerous internal and external physicians, as well as regional and academic system partners.

The EVP & CME demonstrates commitment, both in words and actions, to building a health system that creates health equity and is attentive to the unique needs of each person served. They bring expertise and passion for advancing equity, diversity and inclusion as a strategic priority of the organization.

The EVP & CME strives to continuously strengthen the organizational culture and quality of care provided at HHS, and to advance the academic and research missions of the hospital, elevating the organization's contributions to health system planning and performance locally, regionally and within Ontario. A respected clinician and senior medical leader, the EVP & CME will have a demonstrated history of personal integrity and collaboration, working to foster a culture of quality patient care and safety. The successful candidate will be a leader in the fields of innovation and health care transformation with a track record of accomplishment in pursuit of operational excellence and value-oriented hospital performance.

The EVP & CME is responsible for the planning, coordination, and oversight of clinical education for medical learners, including undergraduate and postgraduate trainees. They also partner with educators and clinical teams to enhance learning opportunities for non-physician health care professionals, to foster and sustain the next generation of providers of high quality interprofessional care.

The EVP & CME is responsible for prudent financial management of the organization and their respective portfolio, within the context of complex and difficult operating challenges.

Highly effective communication with a variety of audiences is essential in this role; to the Board on the performance and strategic direction of the Hospital and the issues it is facing, to peers in communicating key information and concepts to facilitate discussion and sound decision making, and to team members to ensure they are efficient, motivated and collaborative across functions. Of particular importance is a demonstrated ability to build and nurture relationships within a multi-disciplinary model, with particular attention to the relationship between Physician and Administrative leadership. The ability to effectively balance the needs of multiple constituents is paramount.

The EVP & CME is a leader who inspires learning and development for our people. They ensure that leadership within their portfolio lives HHS' values. Through coaching, mentorship and clear communication, the EVP & CME instills accountability within their leadership team both for operational results but also for building and sustaining a psychologically and physically safe work environment for all staff and Physicians.

The successful candidate will be licensed, or eligible for licensure, with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario, and ideally will possess a Master's degree in business or a health-related discipline and advanced leadership training.
