Large Tutoring Inc. is a small and growing business run by a UBC Chemical & Biological Engineering graduate committed to bringing top-level education to families in British Columbia. Our students have attended prestigious institutions such as NYU, UC Berkeley, UBC, UofT and much more. We strongly believe in a personalized approach to teaching as this allows us to focus on meeting the unique needs of each student to help them achieve their academic goals.
We pride ourselves on more than just academic excellence--we are committed to fostering curiosity, independence, and confidence in our students. Our tutors are not only subject matter experts, but also passionate educators who make learning both effective and enjoyable. We believe the best teachers are individuals who are professional but also enthusiastic about teaching as this encourages students to best engage with the material.
Our Values
To help our students navigate growing complexities in their courses, we ensure that they know exactly where the solutions are coming from. We don't ask "what did we do?" but "why did we do it?" By understanding the "why", we ensure that the next time around and every time after, students will be able to apply their knowledge to solve the problem, independently.
At Large Tutoring, we value being adaptable, trustworthy, qualified, modern, and friendly. If we share any of these values then you should consider applying!
: Executive Function Coach
Are you passionate about supporting youth with various kinds of executive function needs including ADHD, autism spectrum disorder, anxiety, and/or other learning differences? We are looking for individuals who are capable of conducting 60-90 minute coaching sessions (sometimes 2+ hours) to help students manage their learning, emotions, and responsibilities through personalized strategies and compassionate guidance.
This is an independent contractor position, as such, the wage will be $60 - $100 an hour depending on the level of education and experience. The wage is for time spent coaching. Often, we conduct introductory meetings with students and their parents at no charge. This is meant to be a way for the coach to meet with the student before sessions begin to discuss details and establish positive rapport. The company will also hold ongoing check in meetings with the team. These meetings will all be paid at a non-premium wage of $17.85 an hour. Sometimes the coach may need to do collaborative meetings with other support staff for the student, including but not limited to behavioural interventionists and teachers, which will be paid at a different rate.
Ideal candidate(s) will start late August to early September 2025 working up to 10 hours a week with students. Coaching sessions are divided into either in person (e.g. at the student's home, a local coffee shop, library, etc), or online (via Zoom, or Google Meets). If you are residing in Vancouver, you can choose one of two geographical boundaries to conduct coaching sessions. The geographical boundary can
EITHER
be anywhere from Downtown Vancouver to W 60th and UBC to Main Street including Kitsilano, Kerrisdale, West Point Grey, and Dunbar-Southlands,
OR
anywhere from Main Street to Boundary road, and East Hastings street to E 41st avenue.
Some sessions are also conducted online, depending on the students' preference. Coaches are welcome to use any video conferencing platform of their choice, as long as it is easily accessible and user-friendly for students, does not time-out during sessions, and can generate a meeting link we can put in our appointment reminders. We do supply Google Meets for all coaches. We are looking for candidate(s) who have the technological set up to work remotely from home, but who are also willing to transit to students' homes or public locations (i.e. coffee shops, libraries, etc.).
The chosen candidate(s) will be required to complete a Police Information Check (PIC) for the vulnerable sector within one month of starting the position. The candidate will be responsible for covering the full cost of completing the PIC. This is the same background check required for parents to complete before volunteering at local schools.
The successful candidate(s) will work one-on-one with students to help them achieve their goals through tailored goal setting and personalized action planning. They will also adjust the coaching plan to cover additional areas the students may need support on. The candidate(s) will complete a summary report at the end of every session to be sent to the students and their parents.
Our students are our number one priority. We make an effort to get to know them and understand their unique needs. At Large Tutoring, our coaches understand their students and how best to support them. The successful candidate(s) must be able to show commitment, honesty, professionalism, organization, and enthusiasm when interacting with students and others in the company. In supporting our students, we also strive to accommodate all of our tutors to the best of our ability and ensure that they receive the support that they need to be the best they can be.
