Executive Director, Literacy Society of the North Okanagan

The Literacy Society of the North Okanagan (the "Society") is seeking a visionary and community-minded

Executive Director

to lead our organization in advancing literacy and lifelong learning among community members of all ages.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide strategic and operational leadership for the Society. Design and deliver literacy programs that respond to community needs. Build, maintain, and strengthen partnerships with schools, non-profits, governments, and businesses. Lead fundraising and grant development, including organizing events and arranging sponsorships. Raise organizational profile through advocacy, media, and community outreach. Oversee financial management, governance, staff, and volunteers.

Qualifications:

Post-secondary degree in non-profit management, education, business, or equivalent experience. Leadership experience in the non-profit or community sector. Strong skills in fundraising, grant writing, and stakeholder engagement. Excellent communication, marketing, and advocacy abilities. Financial and organizational management experience. A genuine passion for literacy and community development.

The Executive Director works 32 hours per week at our office located in Vernon, BC with 6 weeks vacation each year. Travel to local community partners within Vernon is necessary from time to time. Salary is commensurate with education and experience.
