About the Organization



Governed by a volunteer Board of Directors, the NLCBA is the collective voice of craft breweries across Newfoundland and Labrador. Our mission is to support and promote the craft brewing sector in Newfoundland and Labrador through collaboration, education, advocacy, and public engagement. We work with government, industry partners, and the public to foster a regulatory environment that encourages growth, sustainability, and local entrepreneurship.

About the Position



The NLCBA Executive Director leads the organization in advancing the interests of craft brewers across Newfoundland and Labrador. This role is responsible for the overall strategic, operational, and financial management of the association, with a particular focus on advocacy, and building strong partnerships and programs to promote industry interests and long-term financial sustainability for the organization.

Key Responsibilities:



Leadership & Operations



Provide strategic leadership and direction in alignment with the mission and goals of the NLCBA. Work collaboratively with the Board of Directors to develop and implement strategic plans and annual workplans. Oversee day-to-day operations, including administration, communications, budgeting and financial oversight, and program management. Represent the NLCBA at public events, industry meetings, and government consultations. Produce reports as required. Coordinate Board meetings including distribution of associated material (eg: meeting minutes, agenda, reports, etc.)

Fund Development & Financial Management



Lead fund development efforts including securing grants, sponsorships, partnerships, and member contributions. Develop and implement fundraising strategies to ensure financial sustainability of the association. Prepare and manage the annual budget; provide regular financial reports to the Board.

Membership Engagement and Support



Build and maintain strong relationships with member breweries across the province. Recruit new members and deliver value-added services, programs, and advocacy that reflect their needs. Facilitate communication and collaboration among members.

Advocacy and Public Relations



Represent the industry and advocate on behalf of the industry with government bodies, regulators, and industry stakeholders. Serve as the spokesperson for the association in media and public forums. Promote awareness and appreciation of the craft brewing sector across Newfoundland and Labrador.

Event and Program Management



Support and coordinate events, festivals, educational sessions, and promotional campaigns that benefit members and raise the profile of the industry. Collaborate with tourism, hospitality, and business organizations to enhance opportunities for the craft beer community.

Qualifications:



Proven experience in a leadership or management role, preferably in a nonprofit, industry association, or related field. Proven ability to build productive relationships, partnerships, and alliances. Strong background in fund development, grant writing, or sponsorships. Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and engage a variety of stakeholders. Knowledge of the craft beer industry, tourism, or small business sector is an asset. Event planning experience would be an asset. Experience working with boards and sound knowledge of Board governance structures is preferred.

Additional Information



This is a full-time position, although the NLCBA would consider making it part-time. It is a remote and flexible work arrangement. This position may require occasional travel within Newfoundland and Labrador.

Pay: $35.00 per hour
