Position Summary



The Executive Director (ED) is the chief executive of Cosmo and provides strategic leadership, strengthens organizational systems, and ensures high-quality services across all programs. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED works collaboratively with staff, volunteers, funders, and community partners to advance Cosmopolitan Industries Ltd.'s mission and long-term sustainability.

The ED oversees organizational performance, social enterprise initiatives, stakeholder relations, and high-level operations while empowering managers and staff to lead within their areas of expertise.

Key Responsibilities



Lead the development and implementation of strategic priorities, ensuring alignment with mission and community needs.

Support effective governance and act as the primary liaison between the Board of Directors and Cosmo.

Foster a positive, inclusive organizational culture that prioritizes staff engagement, development, and retention.

Oversee social enterprise initiatives that generate revenue to support programs, while ensuring compliance, risk management, and alignment with organizational values.

Ensure sound financial oversight, resource allocation, and risk management, including appropriate insurance coverage.

Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, partners, funders, and community organizations.

Provide guidance and support to senior leadership, enabling operational excellence across all departments.

Qualifications & Experience



Post-secondary education in nonprofit management, business administration, social services, or related field (or equivalent experience).

Significant senior leadership experience, ideally in the nonprofit, social services, or community sector.

Experience with governance practices, strategic planning, financial oversight, and risk management.

Demonstrated ability to grow and manage social enterprise initiatives is an asset.

Proven success in building collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
