Job Description

We are seeking a dynamic and motivated Executive Director for CHEP Good Food Inc.(CHEP), a nationally recognized food security organization, located in Treaty 6 territory in Saskatoon. The Executive Director must be familiar with issues related to food security and poverty reduction and have knowledge and sensitivity regarding Indigenous culture and society. CHEP Good Food has promoted and provided healthy food options to Saskatoon residents for over 35 years. CHEP respectfully addresses the key barriers of accessing healthy food - most importantly cost, accessibility and education. CHEP's headquarters are located inside Station 20 West, a collaborative space for working, meeting, and building community in Saskatoon's west side core neighbourhoods.

The Executive Director will be a self-starter, who works both independently and collaboratively with staff and in partnership with external organizations in Saskatoon. The successful candidate will lead and manage the organization according to the guidance, strategic direction, and policies set by the Board of Directors of CHEP. This is an opportunity for a collaborative, visionary leader who is passionate about food security and community well-being to build on a strong foundation and guide the organization into its next phase of growth.

The Executive Director's main responsibilities will include:



Leadership and Governance:

o Provide strategic direction and oversight of organizational priorities in collaboration with the Board of Directors

o Foster a positive, inclusive and mission-driven workplace culture

o Support the Board in governance, strategic planning, and policy development

Operations and Program Management:

o Oversee day-to-day operations and ensure effective delivery of CHEP's programs, education initiatives, and partnerships

o Manage, mentor and support a staff of approximately 25 full-time and part-time employees

o Ensure alignment of programs with organizational goals, funding requirements, and community needs

Financial Planning and Management:

o Provide strong financial leadership, including budgeting, forecasting, and reporting to the Board

o Oversee funding agreements, contracts, and compliance with all relevant funders and regulations

Community and Stakeholder Relations

o Maintain and build relationships with funders, partners, community organizations, and government representatives

o Represent CHEP Good Food Inc. publicly as a trusted voice on food security and healthy eating

o Lead fundraising and advocacy initiatives to strengthen organizational impact and sustainability

The Executive Director will be a good fit for this organization if:



You are a collaborative leader who has a strong understanding of food security issues in Saskatoon and Saskatchewan.

You have a degree in Public Policy, Public Administration, Business Administration, Political Science, Sociology, Education, Public Health, Social Work or relevant experience

You have a minimum of five years in senior leadership or management within the non-profit, community, or public sector

You have demonstrated skills in business and human relations

You have excellent communication, relationship-building, and stakeholder engagement skills

Compensation:



Base salary range: $80,000 to $85,000. Vacation: 4 weeks (with progression by years of service). Leave: 4 personal days plus capped H&W/sick leave of 7 days annually (non-cumulative), with Board discretion for exceptional circumstances. Benefits: Employer-paid health/dental (consistent with current plan) and RRSP match of $100-$150/month (employee-participation dependent). Professional development: $2,500-$3,000 per year for executive education, governance/sector training, and coaching (Board-approved).

Anticipated start date will be January 2, 2025
