The successful candidate for the position of Executive Director for the C\xc3\xa9gep Heritage College Foundation is an effective leader who is a well-organized, strategic, experienced in building institutions and public relations, and committed to student success.

DEPARTMENT The C\xc3\xa9gep Heritage College Foundation was established in 2013 as a registered charitable organization. Through fundraising activities, it assists Heritage College by awarding bursaries that recognize students\xe2\x80\x99 achievement and effort, contributing to student financial assistance measures, and celebrating student success.

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR The Executive Director of the C\xc3\xa9gep Heritage College Foundation operates under the direction of the Board of Directors and its Executive Committee. This position directly reports to the Chairperson of the Foundation.

TYPE OF HIRING Part-time contract, 25 hours per week.

ROLE SUMMARY
This position, in collaboration with and in support of the Foundation Board and its Committees, has as the fundamental objective to sustain and grow the Foundation, by establishing, maintaining and overseeing effective administrative and financial functions, while pursuing and supporting existing and new fundraising initiatives in support of student success.

In a fast-paced environment, the Executive Director/Manager works closely with the Foundation Chair, the Executive Committee, Committees, volunteers, College Directors, College employees and students. In addition to running the day-to-day operations of the Foundation office, this person supports the Board and its Committees with the plans and execution of all aspects of the Foundation\xe2\x80\x99s operations: governance, administration, finance, communication, public relations, fundraising, volunteer coordination, donor stewardship and recognition.

DUTIES
Specifically, the Executive Director shall perform the following duties:

Board of Directors and Foundation Governance

  • Acts as an advisor to the Board regarding policy development, operations and initiatives;
  • Ensures that all proposals or activities are properly prepared for consideration by the appropriate Foundation Committee(s) or Board. Oversees the execution of adopted initiatives;
  • Attends and participates on Executive and all Foundation Board meetings; may attend meetings as a non-voting ex-officio member (by nature of position held) of all Committees of the Foundation. Supports the work of the Executive Officers and Committee leadership as requested;
  • Provides assistance and input for the development of short and long-range plans and goals for the Foundation;
  • Makes recommendations and collaborates in the planning, drafting and evaluation of Foundation policy, initiatives and/or programs that will advance the financial and/or strategic direction of the Foundation;
  • Prepares for Board approval the annual Board Calendar of Meetings & Activities;
  • In conjunction with Committee and Board members, develops Committee mandates and helps integrate and coordinate the annual Board Work Plan for Board approval and adoption;
  • Submits information, reports as requested, or as required by law, to government entities/officials in order to maintain the Foundation\xe2\x80\x99s charitable status;
  • Under the direction of the Executive Officers, conducts research, develops and implements initiatives and projects designed to broaden the outreach of the Foundation to achieve greater funding opportunities and financial stability;
  • In conjunction with the Corporate Secretary and Treasurer, ensures that Board meeting minutes and decisions are recorded and that financial reports are tabled at Board meetings;
  • Reports concerns, provides updates on initiatives and activities to the Executive Officers, Board, and relevant Committees regularly and/or upon request;
  • Supports the Nomination Committee in developing and executing the recruitment nomination process for Board and Committee Members with a view to building teams that reflect the diversity of the College community the Foundation serves;

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
  • A Degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Marketing & Fundraising, a related field or combination of education and equivalent experience.is required.
  • A minimum of Five years of experience in a position of management responsibility, ideally in a non-profit philanthropic organizational setting involving fundraising activities is also required.

  • Knowledge of the C\xc3\xa9gep system would be considered an asset.
