Job Description

Midland Small Set Nursery School Inc. (Small Set) has been a cherished part of the Midland and North Simcoe community since its founding in 1981, born from a vision to create a nurturing, high-quality preschool experience.

Over the decades, hundreds of children have walked through Small Set's doors, each one greeted with care, curiosity, and a commitment to their individual growth. Today, as a licensed, not-for-profit preschool, Small Set continues to be a place where families feel heard and where children thrive. Our educators, board members, and parent volunteers remain dedicated to creating an environment where every child feels safe, confident, and excited to learn.

Scope of the Position



The Executive Director is appointed by and reports to the Board of Directors. The person is responsible for the successful leadership, overall management and operations of the nursery school according to the strategic direction and policies set by the Board of Directors. The successful individual will have a significant role in bringing to life the mission, vision and values of Small Set by managing and making decisions on the day-to-day operations for the organization. The Executive Director will assist and advise the board.

The Executive Director is responsible for ensuring that the organization is operated in compliance with all applicable legislative requirements.

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities



Degree or diploma in Early Childhood Education or degree in business or related major A minimum of five years experience, preferably in an administrative position in a licensed early childhood program Experience working with and supporting a board of directors and supervising staff Thorough knowledge of licensing requirements as set out by the Child Care and Early Years Act, 2014as well as an understanding of other relevant legislation Ability to think strategically, set priorities, and plans to achieve goals Strong leadership skills; collaboration, conflict management, decision making, change management, inclusiveness Able to foster a cooperative, supportive and collaborative environment Excellent organizational skills, time management and attention to detail required Excellent written and oral communication skills that meet the needs of the many audiences Strong planning human resource and finance skills and competent with various computer technologies and social media

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $32.00-$35.00 per hour

Expected hours: No more than 20 per week
