The Epilepsy Association of the Maritimes (EAM) is seeking a dynamic and strategic leader to serve as our next Executive Director (ED). This is a unique opportunity for a passionate individual to lead a growing organization, drive impactful programs, and build relationships with key stakeholders, including government agencies, healthcare professionals, and the epilepsy community. The ED will report directly to the Board of Directors, and be responsible for overall management, including day-to-day operations, programming, strategic planning, public education and advocacy, and financial management.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee day-to-day operations, ensuring high-quality program delivery and organizational efficiency.
Develop and implement strategic initiatives in collaboration with the Board of Directors.
Build and maintain strong relationships with donors, funders, government officials, and community partners.
Strengthen fundraising efforts, including securing diverse and stable revenue streams through grants, sponsorships, and donor engagement.
Manage within the authority delegated by the Board financial planning, budgeting, spending, and reporting to ensure fiscal responsibility and sustainability.
Recruit, lead, and support teams of staff and volunteers that will serve to further the Association's mission, ensuring that clear and consistent human resource policies and procedures are being followed, and that regular coaching and support is provided.
Confidently serve as the face of EAM, advocating for epilepsy awareness, policy change, and community education, helping the Association to develop a strong and positive public profile.
Keep abreast of current developments and trends impacting the treatment of epilepsy and ensure the Association can pivot and adapt as needed in response to them.
Establish and maintain clear organizational policies and governance structures.
Attend all regular Board meetings and provide regular updates to on operational and financial progress, prepare and deliver annual reports as required, and recommend changes to policies and practices as needed.
Qualifications & Experience:
Graduate degree (MPA, MBA, MSW, MPH, or similar) preferred. Exceptional candidates with an undergraduate degree and extensive relevant experience may be considered.
Minimum of 3 years in a senior management role within a non-profit or governmental organization.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Proven experience in fundraising, grant writing, and donor engagement.
Strong financial management skills, including budget development and oversight.
Ability to lead and inspire teams, fostering a collaborative and inclusive work culture.
Experience with public speaking, advocacy, and stakeholder engagement, including the ability to demonstrate comfort and confidence with being the public face of the organization, and a leading advocate for the cause.
Knowledge of epilepsy and its impact, or a willingness to develop a deep understanding.
Proficient computer literacy (MS Suite)
Comfort managing remote teams and overseeing service delivery across three provinces in the Atlantic region.
Valid driver's license and/or access to vehicle as travel is required for this role.
