Job Description

The Delta Community Foundation is a grass roots organization, administering endowments and fundraising to provide grants to causes in Delta and financial support to those in need. For more than 35 years, our Foundation has been the only charity that gives to all other charities in Delta. Our donors have entrusted us with more than $3 million in funding, and the generous members of our community continue to give. We have a working Board of Directors made up of 10 volunteers who each have a specialty and work well together.

Career Opportunity - Executive Director



After successfully growing our foundation, we are now searching for our first Executive Director responsible for strategic leadership, operational oversight, and representing the foundation to stakeholders.

This individual will be the key driver of fundraising initiatives and relationship cultivation, ensuring the organization's sustainability and growth. The Executive Director will report directly to the Board of Directors and work closely with staff, donors, community partners, and charitable organizations.

Key Responsibilities:



Leadership & Strategy



Provide visionary leadership that aligns with the foundation's mission and values. Develop and execute strategic plans in collaboration with the Board. Lead and inspire a team toward organizational goals. Ensure compliance with CRA charity regulations, legal, financial, and ethical standards, as well as all Foundation policies.

Fundraising & Development



Advance DCF to its goal to reach an endowment investment of $5m. Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy, including Annual Giving, Major gifts, Corporate Sponsorship and strengthening the Planned Giving program. Develop a donor pipeline of local donors, business leaders, natural partners and advisors, and identify new opportunities for donor relationship building and cultivation. Lead grant writing efforts Oversee donor solicitation communications and fundraising campaigns. Represent the organization at fundraising events, community meetings, and speaking engagements.

Events and Stewardship



Establish recognition and stewardship strategies to ensure donors at all levels of giving are acknowledged for their support. Support the timely delivery of acknowledgements, receipts, recognition, and reporting to event sponsors, partners, donors, guests, vendors, suppliers, volunteers, etc. With assistance from staff, develop strategy and support planning for donor and community events, including fundraising, education/awareness, stewardship and internal events.

Relationship Building & Community Engagement



Serve as the public face of the organization to build awareness and support. Strengthen partnerships with key stakeholders, including nonprofit leaders, charities we support, community groups, and government entities. Engage the board in relationship-building and fundraising efforts. Promote a culture of collaboration, transparency, and inclusion.

Financial Management



Develop and manage the annual budget in partnership with the finance committee. Ensure sound financial management and sustainability.

Your Leadership Profile



Proven leadership experience in the nonprofit, or philanthropic sector. Working with community foundations would be an asset. Demonstrated success in major gift fundraising, donor relationship management and donor-funded endowments. Experience writing solicitation campaign materials, cases for support, stewardship reports and a preference for those with grant writing skills. Solid understanding of grant programs, funding models and community foundations. Strategic thinker with strong organizational and financial acumen. Skilled storyteller who can clearly convey impact to a variety of audiences. Culturally competent and committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion. Experience working with a Board of Directors sharing a passion for our mission. Experience with CRM donor management system, Google Docs (or other cloud-based file-sharing program), Zoom and/or Google Meeting. Post Secondary education in business and finance, project management, fundraising and or relative and proven business development experience.

Delta Community Foundation operates with a highly engaged volunteer-based Board of
Directors, and currently has two paid part-time staff members (communications/social media assistant, and an operations administrator).

This position is remote-based, with in-person meetings regularly taking place across both the North and South Delta communities. This is an opportunity where you can work part time from home, with full time impact to your community. Compensation $45 - $50 per hour, flexible hours to meet your schedule and the needs of our foundation. Mileage reimbursement is available.
