Position Overview:
The Executive Director ('ED') acts as a senior Provincial leader for NPower Canada, responsible for the strategic leadership, operational delivery, stakeholder engagement, and financial health of programs and partnerships. As the public face of the NPower Canada programs in the province (flexible to assigned region), and a key member of the Executive leadership team, the ED champions a unified vision of economic inclusion, workforce innovation, and meaningful employment for underserved communities.
This role is accountable for aligning regional strategies with national goals, customizing approaches to address local context, while leveraging national Shared Services to deliver efficient, scalable, and high-impact outcomes. The ED ensures exceptional program quality and employment results, sustainable partner engagement, and strong operational stewardship to meet our organizational mission and performance goals.
The Executive Director must reside near a geo-hub within the province it serves, and is comfortable with travel provincially and nationally, occasionally overnight as business demands.
Accountabilities and Deliverables:
Provincial Strategy Leadership and Program Directorship

• Develop and implement a provincial strategic plan which supports the NPower Canada Strategic Plan and aims efforts at superior outcomes in employment outcomes, community engagement, program delivery, certification, securing revenue/funding, provincial employer recruitment, expenses controls, and reporting of high-quality sustainable outcomes, that contribute to the broader national strategic goals.
• In partnership with the national leadership team customize programmatic strategies to respond to provincial labour market trends and community needs.
• Ensure strong implementation, quality and operation of program, wraparound supports, and curriculum delivery in alignment with national standards.
• Ensure annual and long-term direction is understood and objectives are met; create and implement effective short and long-term resourcing plans; implement quality checks, "early warning signs" and mitigating strategies for regional team capacity stressors; meet regional standards consistent with NPC standards.
• Effective and efficient decision making evident with the use of excellence as a standard to lead a competent workforce, the selection of the right people for the job, and prudent risk-taking.
• Drive process optimization and cross-functional collaboration to minimize duplication and maximize results. Recommend timelines and resources needed to achieve target outcomes.

Partnership Cultivation, Engagement & Business Development

• Act as the primary ambassador of NPower Canada in the province, building strategic and productive alliances with employers, government, industry councils, First Nation, Metis, and Indigenous (FNMI) communities, funders, civic leaders, and educational institutions. Represent NPower Canada at local and regional workforce conferences, investment boards, and community events.
• Represent NPower Canada with credibility and influence in high-level regional forums, advisory groups, and economic development networks.
• Gain employment opportunities by driving new business and partnership opportunities in collaboration with the Regional Business Development members, National Business Development Team, Fund Development Team, liaising as appropriate with Board Member or relevant stakeholder/delegate.
• Cultivate employer partnerships across sectors to drive job placements, co-create training pathways or solutions, collaborating with Business Development leads and Fund Development Teams.
• Cultivate an engaged Regional Industry Council comprised of senior corporate and community leaders to assist in the financial and programmatic success of NPower Canada in the province.
• Support the implementation and achievement of the goals of NPC's Reconciliation Action Plan.

Funding and Financial Management

• In collaboration with the national Development Team, ensure the region [province] has an achievable fundraising plan to secure a targeted percentage or dollar minimum of funding and future growth.
• Lead and/or participate in the identification, cultivation and stewardship of meaningful funding/donor relationships, at targeted level.
• Collaborate with centralized Fund Development Team to diversify and expand current funding by exploring and implementing viable priorities, such as corporate, philanthropic and government channels.
• Assist in the compilation of regular Development Team obligatory and ad-hoc reporting, and in ongoing reporting of regional expenditures.
• Ensure that all applicable internal financial controls are followed, as directed by Director of Finance and Operations.

Team Leadership and Internal Collaboration

• In collaboration with HR Leadership, provided leadership for the provincial teams including recruiting, training, team building, coaching, and professional development. Ensure alignment and equity according to corporate and/or national priorities and policy. Foster an inclusive, collaborative, and high-accountability work culture in line with organizational values, 50-30 Challenge and strategic internal talent efforts.
• Lead, coach and develop a high-performing, mission-driven provincial team and culture that leads to the achievement of annual and long-term organizational objectives aligned to strategic direction.
• As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, lead by example and contribute to interdepartmental strategic discussions and decisions for the organization.
• Collaborate with centralized senior leadership of Shared Services (Finance, IT, HR, Marketing & Communications, Fund Development and National Business Development Team) to ensure strong execution of operations, budgeting, risk mitigation, and brand consistency to meet our organizational goals.

Data Reporting and Insight Generation

• Ensure accurate and timely entry of pertinent data in Salesforce, monitoring quality and compliance with NPC data entry standards and practices.
• Ensure rigorous tracking and evaluation of employment (programmatic) outcomes, participant retention, satisfaction, and DEI benchmarks.
• Utilize data and insights to monitor trends, inform decision making and planning, track performance, and enable continuous improvement and operational efficiency.

What you bring to the team:

• 5-10 years in non-profit senior leadership delivering solid results, indicative of high performance - coupled with deep expertise in employment services, labour market trends, and workforce development.
• A proven track record of developing and executing strategic initiatives that drive workforce development impact across the province/region.
• Excellent ability in building and nurturing strong relationships with, colleagues, funders, employers, community partners, and other key stakeholders. With a proven ability to cultivate partnerships to drive collaborative success.
• Experience with engaging FNMI communities, newcomers to Canada, people with disabilities and other equity-deserving groups. Experience and passion for engaging, collaborating, and co-designing programs with Indigenous communities is considered a strong asset. Familiarity with the Seven Grandfather Teachings.
• Experienced exceptional and agile people leader who can grow, coach collaboratively for high performance.
• Compelling public speaker, confident facilitator, and cross-sector convener. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Excellent organizational and time management, interpersonal, crisis management, conflict resolution, and negotiating skills.
• Demonstrated ability to multi-task with strict attention to detail and deadlines. Able to work under pressure, prioritize, work with interruptions, and respond quickly to changes and requests.
• Exposure to Microsoft 365 (project management software), Salesforce (CRM), Tableau and an Applicant Tracking System is considered a strong asset.
• Flexibility for hybrid work and to work after hours as needed, occasional travel as business dictates.
• Bilingual English/French is an asset, outside of the province of Quebec, in which it is a requirement.
