Program Overview \xe2\x80\x93 Office of the Vice President, Community Care

The Community Care Unit provides a holistic approach to care at home for adults, seniors and caregivers who are vulnerable, at risk and/or marginalized. The program has three portfolios supporting individuals to successfully remain at home and thriving in their communities. The Assisted Living and Seniors Programs provide a wide range of programs such as Assisted Living and Homemaking, Meals-on-Wheels, Adult Day Programs, Transportation, which enable seniors to be as independent as possible in their homes and enhance the quality of life and promote the health of the older adult. In addition, the unit has various programs supporting adults and seniors and caregivers with mental health and/or addiction issues and those requiring developmental services. Lastly, the Supportive Housing portfolio providers transition and permanent housing with supportive services to help individuals transition from homelessness. The office of the Vice President provides leadership and direction for the Community Care Unit.

What You Will Do

  • Provides senior administrative and organizational leadership in managing the Vice President\xe2\x80\x99s Office, including scheduling, the preparation of correspondence, information and presentation materials and reports.
  • Determine priority of matters of attention for the Vice President, Community Care and redirects same to staff or handles personally with tact and diplomacy; acts upon items requiring the Vice President\xe2\x80\x99s attention in a timely manner as appropriate.
  • Responsible for the coordination of meetings with internal and external participants including scheduling, creation and distribution of agenda and minutes.
  • Plays a major role in maintaining relationships with key organizational stakeholders including funders, donors, community members and staff. Liaises with the community partners, management team and committee members and provides information, assistance and administrative support.
  • Provides leadership and support for the coordination of administrative functions across the unit such as expense reporting, maintenance of electronic and paper filing systems, supporting recruitment screening, maintenance of recruitment documents and materials and coordinating interviews.
  • Assists with labor relations, which may include data gathering, reporting, and benchmarking data.
  • Coordinates the input of Directors and Vice Presidents to produce required organizational reports, for use within the department and agency, to meet the reporting requirements of municipal, provincial and federal government departments.
  • At the direction of the Vice President, is responsible for carrying out special projects or duties to enhance the effectiveness, efficiency and productivity of the organization.
  • Participates in training and education to upgrade skills as directed by WoodGreen Community Services to fulfill the responsibilities of the position.
  • Effective September 7, 2021, all newly hired employees will be required to provide proof that they have completed an approved course of vaccination against COVID-19 at least 14 days prior to commencing employment or provide documentation to support an exemption based on grounds covered by the Ontario Human Rights Act (i.e. Medical exemption).
What You Bring to the Team
  • Bachelor of Arts \xe2\x80\x93 Administration, Change management, Human Resources, an asset.
  • 8 years of related experience.

  • Superior skills in office management.
  • Demonstrated skills with office management software and proficient in MS Office.
  • Some supervisory experience.
  • Demonstrated communication skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills.
  • Ability to understand complex issues and react appropriately.
  • Capable of fulfilling the physical and mental demands of the job as per the Position Demands Analysis.
  • Must be able to manage competing and high priority demands on a regular basis.
