Job Summary
The Faculty of Agriculture, Dalhousie University is a small research-intensive campus located in Truro, NS. Offering technical, undergraduate and graduate programs in agriculture, environment and related life and social science disciplines, the Faculty of Agriculture educates future leaders and generates knowledge and innovative solutions for healthy, sustainable societies. Reporting to the Faculty Administrator, the Executive Assistant provides administrative and project support to the Dean/Campus Principal.
Key Responsibilities
Serve as a resource to the Dean and other members of the Dean's Office, as well as faculty and staff, regarding Faculty and University policies, procedures, regulations, and deadlines.
Respond to, prioritize and redirect a wide variety of verbal and written inquiries from internal and external stakeholders including faculty, staff, registered and prospective students, and parents. Identify sensitive and/or urgent matters requiring the Dean's attention.
Coordinate the Dean's schedule being cognizant of priority meetings, appointments and travel. Prepare and distribute materials for meetings as well as reminders and requests for information. Coordinate travel arrangements for the Dean.
Prepare and format a wide range of correspondence including letters, agendas, announcements, reports, and forms.
Provide coordination and support to diverse events and special projects, including campus visits, retreats, surveys, questionnaires and workshops.
Act as resource to both standing and ad hoc committees in the Faculty of Agriculture, including attending meetings, taking and preparing minutes, recording and following up on action items and decisions.

Due to operational requirements, the successful applicant is required to work in-person on campus.
Required Qualifications
Undergraduate degree in a related discipline plus a minimum of five years' relevant and progressive experience, ideally in a university setting (or equivalent combination of training and experience).
Proven ability to set own priorities and handle multiple complex and time-sensitive activities is essential.
Must have strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal) are required.
Must have strong computer skills (MS Office Suite, Adobe, calendaring and email systems) and the proven ability to learn new programs quickly.
Assets
Experience with AV and other remote meeting technologies.
