We are searching for an

experienced Excavator Operator

to join our hardworking crew here in the Okanagan.

Specifically, we are searching for a Heavy Equipment Operator who can operate various sizes of

Mainline Hoes (Excavators)

for civil roadbuilding, earthworks, and deep and shallow utilities.

Wage will be based upon experience.

Position Description:

Operate various sizes of excavators for civil roadbuilding, earthworks and deep and shallow utilities. Responsible for mainlining and/or backfill operations. Hoisting materials, loading trucks etc.

Responsibilities:

Meet with superintendent and foreman before job commences to discuss scope of work and site hazards

Mainlining and/or backfilling operations

Hoisting materials, loading trucks, etc.

Digging between and around utilities

Sloping

Cutting grade

Completing daily pre-trip inspections before operating any equipment

Meeting with supervisor and foreman before job commences to discuss scope of work and site hazards

Inspecting equipment at the end of each shift to make sure cabs are locked, night switches are off, etc.

Skills & Qualifications:

Must be able to work with minimal supervision

Must be able to identify and avoid high risk activities

Must demonstrate ability to operate a broad range of excavators

Must be able to work well with others

Must be able to communicate effectively with others

Must be able to maintain written and electronic records

Education and Experience:

Must have a minimum of 5 years experience in the construction industry

Must hold a valid BC Driver's Licence

A Heavy Equipment Operator Certification will be considered an asset, but is not required

Physical Demands:

Lifting up to 50lbs

Sitting for extended periods of time

Climbing on and off equipment

Working in extreme temperatures

Work Environment:

Working outdoors in all season

Working around heavy equipment

Working near traffic

Exposure to loud noises

Working near overhead and underground utilities

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $30.00-$34.00 per hour
