JOB DESCRIPTION - EXPERIENCED EXCAVATOR OPERATOR

Jake-Jay Construction Ltd. is a mid-sized, fully bonded, limited corporation with decades of experience in underground utility installation, road construction and earthworks.

Our Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced excavator operator to fill a seasonal full-time opening, with potential for year-round employment. Competitive wages with opportunity for a comprehensive benefits package. Wage $28-36/Hr.

Responsibilities

Report directly to Site Foreman

Participate and engage in daily Tailboard meetings, identify hazards and assist in crew compliance to safety policies and regulations

Operate heavy equipment in compliance with the company's safe work procedures

Conduct equipment inspections, and accurately complete daily logs of equipment maintenance.

Perform safe excavations and trenching, accurately cut grade and load trucks

Ability to read and understand survey stakes

Required to fuel and grease equipment daily

Keep work area and equipment clean

Proactively communicate with site foreman and co-workers

Communicate using a radio in compliance with provincial radio protocols.

Complete required paperwork, reporting, and other documentation as required and in compliance with office standards.

Qualifications and Skills

Minimum 2 years heavy equipment operation experience with references

Valid class 5 driver's licence

Must be personable, able to work independently and as a team, and must possess strong communication skills

Experience using laser levels, and/or reading site plans an asset

Experience operating various machines from excavators to skid steers an asset

Pay: $28.00-$36.00 per hour
