DeFord Contracting Inc. is looking for an experienced

Excavator Operator

for Civil Construction city projects in and around the Greater Edmonton Area. DeFord is a leading contractor in Edmonton, Alberta, specializing in municipal road projects, subdivision land development, parking lots, and other key infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities:

Operate excavators to complete tasks such as trenching, backfilling, grading, and material handling. Read and interpret project plans, blueprints, and specifications. Ensure safe and efficient operation of equipment following company and industry safety guidelines. Perform daily equipment inspections and basic maintenance to ensure optimal performance. Work in coordination with site supervisors, laborers, and other equipment operators to meet project timelines. Maintain accurate records of work completed and report any equipment issues. Follow all company policies, procedures, and safety regulations.

Qualifications:

3+ years of experience operating excavators in construction, roadwork, or earthworks. Experience with excavation for municipal roads, subdivisions, or infrastructure projects is an asset. Strong understanding of grades, slopes, and excavation techniques. Must possess a valid Class 5 Driver's License. Ground Disturbance Level II; preferred*.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing job site conditions. Strong commitment to workplace safety.
