Role Summary

Reporting to the Superintendent and Foreman, the Excavator Operator will be responsible for safely operating an excavator. Based out of our construction sites in Charlottetown and the surrounding area, this role will perform a variety of tasks, including daily paperwork and maintenance, loading, excavating, backfilling, tamping, and grading various materials.

What You'll Do

Effectively operate a tracked excavator. Communicate regularly with the Foreman, Superintendent, and customers to receive job specifications. Communicate effectively with the dispatcher and other staff to plan and coordinate work efficiently. Clean and lubricate equipment, and monitor equipment fluid levels. Conduct daily pre-operational checks on all equipment to ensure proper working condition. Secure special attachments and perform minor adjustments and repairs on equipment. Ensure deficiencies are noted and reported to the shop foreman. Organize and maintain an obstruction-free work area while safely operating all equipment. Maintain regular visual concentration while using all equipment and tools. Adhere to and support all safety requirements and quality standards set forth in the PEI Occupational Health and Safety General Regulations, PEI Occupational Health and Safety Act, and Island Coastal's Safety Management System. Use your experience to identify health and safety deficiencies and support Management in implementing solutions or report to Management when required. Perform all other duties as assigned.

What You Bring

3+ years of experience in excavator operation is considered an asset. Class 1 or 3 license is considered an asset but not required. Reliable, dependable, and works effectively as part of a team. Ability to operate for extended periods of time in various conditions. Comfortable completing basic laborer tasks (e.g., raking, shoveling, etc.). Overtime may be required during peak business levels. Valid driver's license and own transportation.

Pay: $21.75-$28.20 per hour
