Please Note: This is a temporary position for 1 year with the possibility of extension. This posting will be used to hire multiple positions.
Assessment Services is looking for casual Exam Invigilators to help support their Learning Services exam centre. The position is casual, and the hours will vary and may include primarily Wednesday evenings, and 2 Saturday mornings per month, with occasional shifts throughout the weekday daytime. The Exam Invigilator position will provide support primarily to Main Campus with potential shifts at Souch Campus and Patricia Campus. Due to this, location of work may vary.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Invigilate (proctor) exams for NAIT students and external students from other institutions
  • Assist with the set-up of testing venue by laying out stationery, equipment and test materials
  • Assist candidates prior to the start of the test by directing them to sign-in and secure their personal belongings
  • Closely follow and enforce testing procedures and regulations
  • Ability to manage/monitor 3-15 testing individuals writing various exams on different testing platforms with different instructions and end times
  • Turn on computers and log in with appropriate sign in information
  • Perform regular attendance and identity checks
  • Perform thorough security walk-throughs regularly throughout the testing lab
  • Deal with queries raised by candidates and testing irregularities in accordance with testing procedures
  • Control and manage test environment
  • Cover front desk duties and student inquiries
  • Work closely with full-time day staff
  • Consistently monitor communication platforms including Microsoft Outlook and Teams and act on instructions and/or updates
Skills & Abilities:
  • Ability to interact effectively with students in a high stress environment
  • Organizational, communication and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a teamwork environment as well as independently.
  • Proficiency with MS Office
  • Ability to use current technology (e.g. Brightspace, Microsoft TEAMS, Lock-down browser, ServiceNow, Read/Write, and e-proctoring apps)
  • Willingness to learn and use new technologies
  • Ability to make informed decisions quickly
Qualifications:
  • Grade 12 diploma
  • PSE diploma in a related field (e.g. Library Assistant, Teacher's Assistant) or a PSE degree is beneficial
  • Some experience in a post-secondary environment as well as proctoring experience is an asset.
  • Driver's license is an asset as travel may be required between campuses
  • Equivalencies may be considered
Applicants with education credentials earned outside of Canada should have their credentials evaluated by World Education Services (WES), International Qualifications Assessment Service (IQAS) or the Comparative Education Services (CES).
Remuneration: $20.18 - $27.10 per hour, plus 12% in lieu of statutory holidays and vacation pay. (Classification - Administrative Support II).
This position is covered by the Alberta Union of Provincial Employees (AUPE) Collective Agreement.
