Overview



Commercial Truck Equipment, part of the Commercial Group of Companies, is looking to grow its Calgary service team by bringing on another

EVT - Emergency Vehicle Technician

at our modern, full-service facility.

A current EVT, Automotive, or Heavy-Duty Mechanic with an interest in emergency apparatus would be perfect for this role and Commercial will provide training and product familiarization to the right candidate.

Commercial EVTs support and service the apparatus we sell -- Pierce Manufacturing, Oshkosh Airport Products, BME Fire Trucks, and MaxiMetal -- as well as maintain apparatus from other manufacturers to keep local fire departments operating safely and effectively.

Reporting to the Service Manager, the right individual will be a self-starter with strong organizational skills, capable of working independently while thriving in a team environment.

Responsibilities



Electrical inspection, diagnosis, troubleshooting, and repair of emergency apparatus systems, including:

Indicators, emergency lights, warning lights, and scene lights Sirens, PA speakers, in-vehicle video, communications, and mobile computers 12V automotive wiring, fuses, relays, switches, and batteries Vendor-specific systems such as Pierce Command Zone and other CAN-Bus systems Familiarity with EV and high-voltage systems considered an asset Mechanical diagnosis and repair of engines, suspension, drivetrain, brakes, and transmissions Hydraulic and pneumatic diagnosis, repair, and installation Maintenance of emergency systems including pumps, valves, foam systems, aerials, and hydraulic racking Preventative maintenance, testing, and inspections -- pump tests, dielectric and aerial testing, etc. Other varied duties as assigned related to service and support of emergency apparatus

Education, Skills, and Qualifications



Minimum AB Class 5 license with air brake endorsement (Class 3 preferred or willingness to obtain) Journeyperson or Red Seal certification considered an asset Understanding of NFPA standards is a strong advantage Previous experience diagnosing, testing, or repairing heavy trucks, emergency vehicles, or equipment required Legally able to travel to the United States for occasional training or service trips Computer literacy (Office 365 and digital service tools) required Dependable, detail-oriented, and safety-focused
