Events Manager (Full Time)

What you will be doing:
  • Respond to inquiries regarding catering space availability and guestroom inquires in a professional and timely manner
  • Solicit local/social and corporate group business through execution of actions outlined in the Departmental Marketing Plan as well as established solicitation practices.
  • To solicit from and confirm with clients, all information pertaining to the event they are planning, and to organize and distribute all information to departments through memos, banquet event orders, directives, resumes and rooming lists;
  • To initiate billing procedures to ensure hotel deal with creditable clientele, as well as ensuring deposits and/or credit applications are received with adequate information;
  • To coordinate with outside vendors - entertainment, electrical, audio-visual, display, floral, etc. to accommodate requirements of the client
  • To create menus to satisfy client\xe2\x80\x99s individual needs, while maintaining hotel food and labour costs
  • Ability to plan and organize events effectively with an acute sense of detail;
  • Ensure delivery of expected guest service through follow up and coordinator with other hotel departments
  • Maintain high quality of service standards required by the hotel and company;
  • Solicit existing account base to generate additional bookings from the Account.
  • Prompt response (within one business day) to all forms of inquiries in an effort to capture additional market share.
  • Negotiate prices, prepare accurate quotes and then confirm by written contracts.
  • Site inspections.
  • Prepare weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reports as required.
  • Assist with the compilation of competitive intelligence information.
  • Participate in trade shows, conventions and promotional events within the hotel and trade related organizations.
  • Actively be a member of industry organizations such as MPI.
  • Actively participate in appropriate Conference Services/Catering training.
  • Other duties as assigned
Must be legally eligible to work in Canada. The hotel is unable to assist candidates in obtaining work authorization documents

Your experience and skills include:
  • Post-Secondary education, or graduate of recognized Hotel & Restaurant Management Program or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in a similar role required
  • Microsoft Office Software computer literacy required.
  • High energy with exceptional organization and communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, booth written and verbal.
  • Must be a creative and effective leader, possessing a high degree of professionalism.
  • Must be able to work independently and maintain a positive attitude within a very busy environment.
  • Strong knowledge of food and beverage.
  • Completion of Situational Selling courses a strong asset.
