Job Description

WORK OPTION: The NBA currently provides eligible employees the option of working remotely one day per week.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy & Regional Alignment
Serve as the primary contact in Canada for the NBA Latam & Canada Events Team Lead, supporting strategy planning and maintaining close communication.
Identify growth opportunities in existing events in Canada to enhance fan engagement and drive business opportunities through partnerships, content, and fan engagement programs.
Collaborate with revenue teams to develop monetization strategies and explore innovative event models for NBA partners, promoters, and government entities in Canada.
Provide guidance on event types and platforms in Canada based on market insights, league priorities, fan interest, and business potential.
Event Planning & Execution
Lead planning and execution of all NBA events in Canada, including NBA/WNBA games, fan festivals, hospitality events, and watch parties.
Manage all aspects of event planning: event agencies or promoters, event partners activations, government entities, event budgets, contracts, vendors, and compliance with internal and regulations.
Oversee all event-related permits, licenses, and authorizations to ensure regulatory compliance.
Coordinate staffing, logistics, and deliverables with event venues, agencies, promoters, and government entities.
Lead negotiations with internal and regional stakeholders to secure resources and ensure successful execution of all events in the region.
Stakeholder Management & Collaboration
Maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders in NY and Canada, including the NBA teams, Toronto Raptors, Tempo (WNBA), government entities and arenas across Canada, ensuring alignment on events and strategy
Work cross-functionally with marketing, fan engagement, sponsorship, and communications teams to support ticket sales and maximize partner value.
Commercial & Partnership Integration
Collaborate with Business Development to create and develop sellable assets across sponsorships, media, and merchandising.
Partner with Content and Marketing teams to design compelling commercial products for Business Development opportunities.
Align all event commercial inventory with Business Development proposals and ensure partner activations meet contractual commitments.
Secure that arena signage complies with partner agreements, Digital Display (DD) guidelines, and brand exposure policies while managing conflicts with non-NBA partners.
Oversee the execution of high-end partner activations for Canada games, including direct collaboration with select partners such as Bell, and any other relevant partners, activating events in Canada (standard deliverables).
Coordinate with the Commercial Integration and Activation team in NY to align on best practices and shared initiatives.
Hospitality and Ancillary Interactions:
Develop and operate hospitality benefits and ancillary interactions for partners in collaboration with the Hospitality Lead in LATAM and Canada.
Maintain real-time communication with the MP team to ensure smooth coordination and activity tracking.
Reporting & Evaluation
Track and report on event performance, including KPIs, budgets, and post-event recaps.

Proven experience in entertainment/sports marketing and event management, with expertise in leading the design, planning, development, and execution of events and platforms within dynamic, results-driven environments.
Deep understanding of event marketing and experiential marketing.

Language & Travel Requirements
Fluency in English is required; additional language skills (Spanish/Portuguese) are highly desirable.

Required Experience
Bachelor's degree in marketing, business administration, sports management, advertising, communications or a related field is required.
A minimum of 8-10 years of professional experience entertainment/sports marketing and event management, including the design, planning, and execution of events in fast-paced, results-driven environments.
At least 5 years of experience in a leadership or senior management role, overseeing cross-functional teams and complex projects.
At least 5 years of leadership and people management experience.
Proven experience of working with global or international brands, particularly in the sports or entertainment sectors, with expertise in diverse international markets.
Proven experience of working at and/or with events agencies, with solid knowledge of event production and budget management.
Proven experience in commercial integrations and brand activations, including sponsorship execution, arena signage management, digital display (DD) guidelines, and compliance with brand exposure policies. Skilled in managing conflicts with non-NBA partners to protect commercial agreements and ensure maximum visibility for sponsors.
Proven experience in developing and executing sellable commercial assets, working closely with Business Development, Fan Engagement, and Marketing teams to create compelling sponsorship opportunities that drive revenue and enhance brand partnerships.
Strong understanding of hospitality programs and partner engagement strategies, including premium experiences, VIP activations, and exclusive on-site interactions that enhance brand perception and business relationships.
Strong multitasking, project management, and problem-solving experience.
Fluent in English is required; additional language skills (Spanish/Portuguese) are beneficial.
