You are a detail-oriented, organized individual who has the experience to lead a team to plan and execute internal and external events to support the organization's fundraising goals. You are passionate and keen about meeting and building relationships with individuals that support the organization's mission and vision.

Position Summary:



Reporting to the Senior Director of Philanthropy and Campaigns, the Events & Fundraising Lead oversees the agency's events portfolio, managing the strategy, planning, budget, coordination, and execution of all events. This includes fundraising, education and awareness campaigns, donor cultivation and stewardship initiatives, and third-party events. The role is pivotal in delivering impactful experiences that align with the agency's mission and goals, fostering meaningful partnerships and community engagement.

What you will be doing:



Overall



Build and maintain strong, meaningful relationships with donors, sponsors, partners, and supporters to ensure diverse and sustainable revenue streams. Create new revenue opportunities through third-party events, strategic partnerships, and innovative fundraising initiatives. Develop and maintain a robust pipeline of prospective sponsors, corporate partners, and event attendees. Solicit sponsorships, in-kind donations, auction items, and other revenue generators to meet event needs. Lead ticket sales campaigns and implement strategies to meet or exceed annual fundraising targets. Coordinate and execute fundraising events and programs, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and standards. Manage technology platforms for events, such as online auctions, raffles, and ticket sales systems. Support a culture of best practices in fundraising and event management across the organization. Assist the Fundraising team with budgeting, donor journey development, and event communications. Provide recognition, acknowledgment, and impact reporting to all supporters to ensure ongoing engagement and sustainability of partnerships. Collaborate with Marketing & Communications to deliver high-quality event collateral and promotions. Organize and facilitate internal fundraising team meetings to ensure alignment and coordination.

Events Management / Logistics



Liaise with individual donors to leverage support and coordinate gifts in-kind and / or non-cash donations of tickets and experiences. Support planning and execution of agency events per the events calendar, including fundraising (Spring/Fall, partnerships, 3rd party, annual fundraising gala), education/awareness, stewardship, and internal events (staff parties, AGM) Prepare and deliver detailed reporting on event logistics, budgets, committees, volunteers, communications, ticket sales, and financial reconciliation. Maintain comprehensive records such as critical paths, procedures, training materials, and contact lists. Oversee auctions and raffles, including licensing, item acquisition, appraisals, prize tracking, and coordination for distribution and tax receipting. Manage vendor and contractor relationships to ensure high-quality service delivery. Support the creation and implementation of participant engagement plans and journeys. Provide hands-on administrative and logistical support for all agency events. Assist event committees in coordination with the Fundraising team.

Third Party Fundraising Events



Build partnerships with local organizations, schools, and businesses to expand volunteer engagement and fundraising opportunities. Identify and secure strategic collaborations with third-party event organizers. Provide event organizers with tools, resources, and stewardship to foster lasting relationships. Coach and motivate participants to maximize fundraising outcomes, identifying areas for growth and improvement. Design recruitment campaigns for third-party events and develop partnership solicitation strategies. Serve as the main point of contact for all third-party fundraising initiatives. Recruit, train, and engage volunteers to support these events, ensuring alignment with agency goals. Network and build relationships through in-person presentations, stewardship calls, committee participation, and resource sharing.

Sponsorships & Partnerships



Research potential sponsors, funders, partners, and donors to identify new opportunities. Develop and implement tailored solicitation strategies. Secure and steward event sponsorships and corporate partnerships, ensuring all deliverables are met. Cultivate strong, ongoing relationships to create cross-event and multi-year partnership opportunities. Manage both national (Big Brothers Big Sisters of Canada) and local partnerships in collaboration with the Partnerships Manager.

Donor Relations & Stewardship



Responsible for distributing sponsor and partnership reports in accordance with sponsorship and partnership agreements, delegating tasks to Event Assistant(s) where appropriate Lead regular review of and updates to all stewardship and recognition materials for sponsors, partners, and event participants Support timely delivery of acknowledgements, receipts, recognition, and reporting to event sponsors, partners, donors, guests, vendors, suppliers, volunteers, etc Assist with timely submission of data for processing of contributions/donations Support donor cultivation and stewardship events

Administration & Human Resources



Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in the organizational database, tracking all interactions and commitments. Prepare and submit all required licensing applications for events. Develop and maintain training materials for Event Assistants and provide onboarding and ongoing support. Assign tasks and oversee the work of Event Assistants to ensure effective delivery of responsibilities.

Others



Maintain an up-to-date and deep knowledge of Big Sisters work as well as industry best practices in fundraising, events, sponsorships, partnerships, and stewardship Participates in general agency functions, such as but not limited to, the Annual General Meeting, Volunteer Recognition Events, and the annual gala Ensures adherence to CRA regulations and all Foundation policies Assists in general agency functioning and performs other duties as requested or required

What you bring:



2 years' experience in fundraising, event management and/or customer service Post-Secondary education or training in event coordination or fundraising would be ideal Computer literate with good working knowledge of Microsoft Suite, and Adobe Suite would be ideal Exposure to Raiser's Edge NXT and event manager programs an asset Ability to understand, communicate and support the mission, vision, and values of the agency An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience will be considered Must have a valid driver's license and access to a vehicle
