Job Summary
The Events Assistant provides administrative assistance that works closely with the Events Coordinator for a variety of administrative and event related tasks. It is expected that the Events Assistant can work independently and as a team member to develop positive working relationships with colleagues, Elders, clients and community members.
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
Grade 12 required, post-secondary education in office administration, events, tourism or a related field is preferred
A minimum of six months of experience in an administrative role
Experience in events, tourism, and/or project management is preferred
Experience and knowledge of local Indigenous communities and their needs is an asset
A combination of education and experience will be considered
Skills and Abilities:
Ability to work independently to establish effective interpersonal relationships
Proficiency in the use of Word and Excel
Ability to self-regulate, meet deadlines, have attention to detail with strong accuracy
Recognizes and respects all cultural diversity and understands Indigenous culture
Good oral and written interpersonal and communication skills
Working Conditions:
Travel and work some non-standard hours may be required
Work 20 hours per week -Tuesday to Friday is preferred but will consider other options for the right candidate
Conditions of Employment:
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Criminal Records Check
Must possess and maintain a valid BC Driver's License
Must possess a vehicle in good operating condition and appropriate vehicle insurance to meet program requirements
