Event Technologist Intern



POSITION OVERVIEW




Reporting to the Director of Community Engagement and Events at the Vector Institute, the

Event Technologist Intern

will support the Events Team in improving the design and build of event registration pages, manage event technology platforms, support digital marketing automation, and help implement Vector's new data governance strategy. The incumbent will be required to demonstrate technical problem-solving abilities, taking the initiative to research platform solutions, and implement user-friendly event experiences.

APPLIED INTERNSHIPS AT VECTOR




The applied internship program at Vector provides relevant, hands-on learning and work experience in machine learning and AI. During the paid internship, interns will have the opportunity to attend research, recruitment, and commercialization talks at Vector and connect with key stakeholders in the AI ecosystem. Applied internships may be full-time (36.25 hours per week) or part-time (20 hours per week) over the Winter academic term (January 12 - April 24, 2026) with an opportunity to continue over the Summer 2026 academic term. We welcome applications from all qualified candidates. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES



Create a handbook and standardization protocol for creating event pages and gathering guest data; Design and build responsive event registration pages using platforms like Swoogo, Eventbrite, and similar event management systems; Implement conditional logic for registration forms based on attendee types, pricing tiers, and event requirements, make improvement suggestions; Support audience segmentation in Mailchimp for targeted event communications with marketing team; Develop automated email workflows in Swoogo and registration confirmation sequences; Troubleshoot technical issues with event platforms and registration processes; Collaborate with both the Marketing and Events teams to optimize user experience and conversion rates; Test registration flows across devices and browsers to ensure functionality and create basic landing pages and event microsites as needed; Support integration between event platforms and CRM systems and create appropriate documentation; and, Other duties as assigned.

PROFILE OF THE IDEAL CANDIDATE



You are a self-identified Black or Indigenous student or postdoc (Indigenous ancestry or heritage - First Nations (status or non-status), Metis or Inuit) or a recent graduate. You are in second year or higher, studying at a Canadian university or college, or a recent graduate within one semester of graduation, ideally pursuing Data Analytics, Marketing, Business Administration, or related field. Strong analytical skills with a proven ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy. Web design fundamentals with HTML/CSS knowledge and responsive design principles. Platform experience with event management systems (Swoogo, Eventbrite, Luma etc.) or willingness to learn quickly. Technical aptitude for understanding conditional logic and form automation. Email marketing knowledge including audience segmentation and automation workflows. Problem-solving mindset with ability to troubleshoot technical issues independently. Communication skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

NICE TO HAVE



Experience with Mailchimp or similar email marketing platforms. Wordpress, Basic JavaScript, and/or web development experience. Familiarity with marketing automation tools and workflows. Previous event coordination or registration management experience. Understanding of user experience (UX) design principles. Experience with CRM integrations and data management. Interest in AI/tech industry events and community building. Position Type: Part-time, flexible hours to accommodate academic schedule.

Compensation: $25/hour.
