The Distillery Restaurants Corp., creators of Cluny Bistro, El Catrin, Pure Spirits Oyster House & Grill, Archeo Trattoria, Madrina Bar y Tapas, District Pizza and Distillery Events (the Fermenting Cellar and The Distillery District\xc2\xae- Loft) are looking for an Event Supervisor for Cluny Bistro and Boulangerie with outstanding food & beverage knowledge, solid business acumen, and a drive to deliver results and bring people together. Our venues are located in the Distillery Historic District, one of Toronto\'s most exciting art and shopping destinations and home to some of the top-ranked restaurants of Toronto. The Event Supervisor is a leader for the execution of the events at Cluny. They are responsible to review all the documents, timelines and floor plans and lead the service team onsite to execute the plan as laid out. They are to act as the onsite contact for the Client and escalation point for any changes or challenges. You must already have legal permission to work in Canada in order to be considered for this role.

What you\xe2\x80\x99ll be doing:
  • Lead by example and reinforce the DRC\xe2\x80\x99s core values and policies on a daily basis.
  • Maintain and contribute to a culture founded in dignity, mutual respect and passion that revolves around hospitality and the delivery of genuine service and expertly crafted food and beverage.
  • Build and nurture professional relationships with guests, DRC employees, leadership, suppliers/vendors, industry peers and partners.
  • Embrace, engage, and follow through on all feedback:
    • taking a hands-on approach to celebrating and cascading thanks when you win,
    • and delivering recovery and repair to any/all persons when the mark is missed.
  • Under the guidance of the General Manager, build trust and loyalty with guests, DRC employees, leadership, suppliers/vendors, industry peers and partners alike through:
    • proactive communication,
    • setting and managing expectations,
    • and delivering solid business results.
  • Support overall operations of the event and restaurant business with clarity, consistency, fairness and integrity.
  • Own the event on the day, bringing the details from the page into reality with the support of your team.
  • Be the subject matter expert for the team regarding Cluny and the Events menus, BEOs, VIPs, and lead engaging and informative pre-shift meetings.
  • Perform cash and inventory reconciliation and order supplies as necessary.
  • Liaise, as required, with the Events Team, Culinary, FOH Management, Payroll, and Executive Leadership.
  • Attend meetings with the Events team and the Cluny team as required.
  • Other tasks and duties as assigned.

What you\xe2\x80\x99ll bring to Cluny:
  • EXPERIENCE. We\'re looking for a candidate with at least three (3) years of progressive experience within the hospitality industry, preferably a fast-paced, high-volume event and restaurant environment, in a supervisory role. Intermediate knowledge and understanding of business operations are considered an asset.
  • PASSION. You\'re a true leader who aims to deliver exceptional guest experiences, drive your team toward new heights and greater successes in a positive manner.
  • TRAINING. While you\'re required to be Smart Serve certified, any other education or certifications related to event and restaurant management, culinary, mixology, wines and spirits are highly valued.
  • ADAPTABILITY. You can work and thrive in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment with ease.
  • SOLUTIONS. You\'re a strong problem solver with an insatiable desire to positively impact the experience of our guests, reviews and the workplace.
  • EDUCATION. A business, hospitality or food and beverage management degree/diploma, or the equivalent in education and experience, is considered an asset.
