The opportunity: The Event Coordinator/Communications & Faculty Assistant at St John\xe2\x80\x99s College acts as the main point of contact for all classroom bookings and events at the College, and communicates with clients from the initial inquiry through to the conclusion of the event to ensure its success. This position works closely with the Food Services Manager, the Dean of Studies, the Assistant Bursar, and other event organizers across campus. They also act as the Faculty Assistant for Fellows of the College, as well as the Secretary to the Dean of Studies. In addition, this person coordinates with the Marketing & Communications Officer to make sure that events and other bookings at the College are properly highlighted and advertised to the broader College and University of Manitoba community. The qualifications and experience we\xe2\x80\x99re looking for:
  • Completion of a formal training program in a related discipline from a recognized institute is required.
  • Three years of directly-related experience is required.
  • An acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of computer software applications such as Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint are required. Excellent knowledge of Ad Astra, Aurora and EPIC preferred.
  • Must have effective communication and organization skills when dealing with all levels of staff, students, and the public, and particularly with event clients. Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and complete complex secretarial, clerical or basic accounting routines is required.
  • Ability to coordinate with the Marketing & Communications Officer and supply information regarding College events or other relevant information or announcements pertaining to the Fellows of the College required.
  • Satisfactory work record, including satisfactory attendance and punctuality, is required.
  • Knowledge of St John\'s College operations, and the University of Manitoba an asset.
