Event Coordinator

Job Description

Reporting to the Associate Director, Events and Ceremonies, the event coordinator is responsible for the planning and professional execution of university signature events, weddings and corporate activities. As a member of the Events and Ceremonies team, they provide event planning expertise and scheduling guidance to the institution to ensure all university events align with campus policies and procedures.


The coordinator has excellent time management, planning and day of event delivery skills. They are a skilled communicator and committed to delivering the highest level of quality customer service. The incumbent enjoys working with a degree of autonomy, yet has the competencies to collaborate and build a shared vision with a team of volunteers, suppliers, and stakeholders to bring an event to fruition.


This position requires a flexible work schedule with the ability to adjust the standard work week to meet the service needs of the university during peak operation times. This adjustment includes the need to work occasional evening and weekend shifts.



Job Requirements
A minimum of 5 years event planning, or equivalent experience. Demonstrated ability to provide event planning expertise and determine scope considerations that will support successful event delivery Results-oriented, able to make informed decisions, solve problems, embrace change, react quickly to emerging situations, respond to customer concerns, skillfully resolve problems and seek managerial support when required; Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; Able to develop relationships and collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve shared vision Capable of working under intense pressure and setting priorities while maintaining an uncompromising commitment to quality and customer service; Skilled at maintaining accurate financial and administrative processes; Motivated, flexible and enjoys dynamic, multitask environments; Computer literate, Microsoft Word, and Excel and willing to learn new applications; Flexible work schedule with the ability to adjust the standard work week to meet the demands of the role during peak operation times, which includes working evenings, weekends and occasionally split shifts

Note: The work requires moderate physical effort associated with standing or walking for long periods in the delivery of events and tours; working indoors and outdoors including in variable weather; and may involve lifting or carrying program equipment.

This is a temporary, full-time position working 37.5 hours per week for 12 months starting November 2025. This position has been evaluated at MPT-A with a salary range of $64,409 (minimum) to $75,677 (midpoint) to $86,945 (maximum) per annum. Employment offers will normally be made between the minimum and midpoint of the range and are determined by knowledge, experience and internal equity.
