Kincardine Veterinary Services is a small animal, Fear Free Certified Veterinary Practice in Kincardine, Ontario. We are a busy clinic with two veterinarians and a tight-knit support team. Hospital sanitation and cleanliness are of the utmost importance to keep our clinic functioning efficiently, and we are looking to add an Evening Clinic Cleaner who will help our highly skilled team to provide the best possible care to our patients and their people.

About the Position:



Following clinic Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), the Evening Clinic Cleaner is responsible for daily cleaning and maintenance of the veterinary clinic. Duties include, but are not limited to:

Vacuuming and mopping floors to disinfect Washing walls and baseboards Laundering towels, blankets, scrubs, lab coats, etc. Routine disinfection of operating room, radiology room, and exam rooms Cleaning dog runs, cat kennels, and the isolation room after they have been occupied by patients Preparing kennels for incoming patients Emptying trash and recycling, transporting cardboard to the recycling depot Restocking clinic supplies and keeping track of inventory Dusting furniture Washing and disinfecting dishes, toys, lick mats, and other items used during appointments Washing interior and exterior windows and windowsills/frames Cleaning and disinfection of the kitchen and bathrooms Reporting any concerns with hospitalized patients to the medical team, and clinic hazards or supply shortages to the Kennel Manager Outdoor sidewalk and doorway snow removal (parking lot snow removal is performed by a separate company) Maintenance of plantings around buildings and signage Removing spider webs daily from under soffits and around windows and doors Ensuring grounds are free of trash and feces (grass is cut by a separate company) Cleaning outdoor furniture Changing lightbulbs and cleaning light fixtures Minor building maintenance

About You:



Supportive team member who displays professional conduct whenever interacting with clients and other team members Adherence to confidentiality and non-disclosure policy Strong attention to detail and dirt Able to work independently and with minimal supervision, manage time effectively while handling multiple tasks, and follow cleaning and sanitation procedures per clinic SOPs Familiar with or willing to learn basic canine and feline body language, including how to identify signs of fear, anxiety, stress, or pain Comfortable working around animals and cleaning their excrement and bodily fluids Able to lift and carry up to 20kg independently, more with assistance Reliable personal transportation, as public transportation is not available Fluent in written and spoken English as the position's core duties involve reading and understanding safety labels and communicating effectively with the team Able to provide a Criminal Record Check upon offer of employment due to the nature of the job and the environment in which the employee will be working Previous cleaning experience would be an asset, but we are willing to train the right highly motivated individual

Job Requirements (Will Train):



Understanding of transmissible and zoonotic diseases and cleaning and sanitation practices WHMIS certification Able to identify abnormalities in the health and behavior of cats and dogs No degree, certificate, or diploma required

Work Environment:



Veterinary Hospital/Medical Facility Primarily indoors, outdoor tasks to be completed when weather permits Working on feet for long periods of time Kneeling, bending, reaching, crouching, sitting, standing Use of a step or full-sized ladder Repetitive movements Working safely with animal excrement and bodily fluids Working safely with cleaning chemicals Fast-paced environment that can at times be high-stress and emotionally challenging
*Please note that while this position is in a veterinary facility, we do not anticipate that the Evening Clinic Cleaner will be involved in animal handling. They will be asked to observe hospitalized patients throughout their daily duties and report any concerns to the medical team.

Hours of Work:



Monday to Friday, 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM Approximately 20-25 hours per week Permanent The clinic is closed on all statutory holidays Anticipated start date: October 1st

Benefits:



Hourly wage starting at $17.60/hour Uniform allowance Eligibility for staff discounts on personal pet(s) upon successful completion of a 90-day probationary period and the ongoing maintenance of a minimum number of hours worked
