Position overview
GME Excavation Sewer and Water is seeking a skilled and motivated Civil Construction Estimator/Project Manager to join our team. This role involves overseeing civil construction projects, focusing on excavation, sewer, and water services. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in estimating and project management, with a commitment to quality and safety.
Essential Functions:
Perform accurate, thorough, and timely quantity takeoffs
Manage multiple projects concurrently, demonstrating the ability to multitask effectively.
Review tender and bid packages to identify scope requirements, risks, and pricing considerations
Ability to read architectural drawings and specifications
Obtain clarification on plans and specifications from architects and engineers when necessary.
Assist the Operations Manager in soliciting and analyzing subcontractor and vendor pricing input.
Develop unit costs accurately and assess project takeoff workloads proficiently.
Consider and understand project-related problems, identifying appropriate solutions.
Attend project site pre-bid meetings, site tours, and post-bid interviews as required.
Provide pricing support for revisions, change orders, and project updates
Minimum Requirements
6+ years of pre-construction/estimating experience on commercial construction projects.
Ability to operate as a standalone estimator, capable of handling complete projects if required.
Strong computer skills, including proficiency in estimating software, word processing, spreadsheets, bid management, online plan rooms, and communication tools (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, Office, Outlook).
