Reporting to the General Manager and working from our Waterloo, ON office, the Estimator is key resource to administrate the incoming project opportunities through various bidding sites and through direct inquiries. The Estimator will be responsible for ensuring that project estimates are completed in a timely manner on schedule, creating budgets, and in compliance with the Contract, Company Policies and Procedures, and legislative and labour requirements. Estimator is the main interface with the client on all technical and commercial matters relating to the Bid. In addition this person create CAD Drawing submittals for customer approval.
Role Description
Partner with Sales to establish and maintain customer relations and business opportunities.
Administer and manage incoming bid opportunities from bidding portals and direct inquiries in partnership with sales
Prepare accurate project estimates, budgets, and proposal documentation on schedule
Ensure all bids conform to tender documents, contract requirements, and company policies
Prepare and submit bid documents as specified by contract and client requirements
Monitor bid addenda and revise estimates accordingly
Identify scope changes throughout the bid process and communicate impacts clearly
Review project take-offs to identify estimating efficiencies and opportunities
Identify project risks early and implement mitigation strategies; escalate issues as required
Attend pre-bid meetings and conduct site measurements and reviews as required
Education
Post-secondary diploma or degree in CAD Technology, Building Technology, or a related field
Extensive administrative and construction project management experience considered an asset

Knowledge, Experience & Technical Skills
5-7 years of progressive experience in estimating, project management, or technical operations within a manufacturing and/or installation environment
Strong understanding of: Construction trades and installation methods
Material and industry specifications (AIA, CCDC, ASTM, ASME)
Building codes and metal fabrication
Proficiency with: AutoCAD (required), SolidWorks and Inventor (preferred), ERP systems (asset) Microsoft Office with advanced Excel skills
Proven ability to interface with engineering, sales, and construction project stakeholders
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
Excellent written and verbal skills (English requires; French an asset)
Ability to manage multiple bids
