in our T&D business as an Estimator. As an intermediate to senior level Estimator, you will be you will be responsible for developing accurate and detailed project estimates, ensuring they meet the required standards in line with contractual obligations as well as company policies, procedures, and best practices.
Responsibilities: Prepare estimates at various stages of the design process, from conceptual design to pre-tender stage
Review and evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotes
Liaise with engineering, procurement, subcontract, and construction teams to ensure accurate reflection of requirements in cost estimates
Perform cost risk assessments and probabilistic simulations to establish project contingency and project reserve
Identify solutions to mitigate risks by assessing the uncertainties associated with projects' micro and macro environment, productivity, material pricing, wage rates and quantity variation to calculate the associated risk costs
Establish and review the conceptual scopes of estimates and studies when definition is not available through a demonstrated ability to conceptualize the design of the finished product, and utilize specialized contingency skills to compensate for undefined scope
Prepare and provide guidance in the preparation of cash flow models and working capital analysis when delegated
Prepare basis of estimate (BoE) detailing assumptions, exclusions, methodologies, data sources, risks, and scope used to develop a cost estimate
Plan, schedule, and lead estimate reviews and presentations both internally and with clients and provide proactive cost management advice to ensure clients understand the content of reports and estimates
Contribute to and support project pursuits, establish a critical path schedule for the estimate and assist with bid document control by documenting, organizing, and archiving all information relating to the estimate for successful transfer to the project team
Complete assessments and analysis of any cost variances between estimate stages
Assess merit and cost for project changes and claims and support negotiations and procurement activities
Collaborate with other Project Controls disciplines to ensure project budgets and schedules are integrated and developed to reflect the structure and content of the approved project cost estimate
Develop and continuously improve estimating templates, tools, and cost models and promote standard estimating systems and procedures
Maintain historical databases, escalation indices, productivity data, and track estimated vs. actual costs, analyze variances, and support lessons learned for continuous improvement
Build and maintain strong relationships with subtrades, consultants, suppliers, and clients
Ensure compliance with company processes, procedures, and guidelines
Carry out other estimating and cost management activities as required
Qualifications: 5+ years of experience as an estimator, preferably working on projects in the power sector
A degree or diploma in Engineering, Business, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or related discipline
Ability to clearly present complex cost data and influence decisions
Strong analytical and interpersonal skills combined with sound judgment and initiative
Ability to solve complex problems using sound professional judgment, creativity, and innovation and to make timely decisions and meet deadlines
Responsive to internal and external stakeholder requests
Capability to work independently with minimal guidance
Self-motivated with excellent organizational, communication and report writing skills;
Knowledge of Palisade @Risk software:
Knowledge of cost estimating, CIQS and AACE guidelines and best practices, engineering design, construction practices, and procurement for major projects;
Familiarity with the AACE International cost estimate classification system;
Knowledge of estimating methodologies, scheduling, construction practices, and project constraints and risks
Knowledge of different procurement methods, contracts, and how they apply to estimating
Proficiency in MS Office with advanced Excel skill level will be an asset
