Role Description



Develop comprehensive estimates and budgets for all bids, design/build projects, and maintenance proposals, incorporating material costs, labor expenses, and equipment needs based on drawings and specifications for proposal submissions. Manage pre-construction activities, including defining project scope, critical path scheduling, and identifying potential risks or issues. Request and assess sub-trade proposals, ensuring they align with project plans and specifications. Collaborate with Project Managers to plan the construction phase and develop a construction schedule using Microsoft Project. Review incoming and outgoing bid requests to ensure accuracy and completeness. Identify new bid opportunities through online platforms such as Bids and Tenders and Biddingo Serve as a resource for Project Managers during the construction phase, providing ongoing support. Assist in establishing project benchmarks, target costs, and forecasting analysis. Contribute to the project execution team and participate in hand-over and close-out meetings. Review all tender documentation and drawings to ensure compliance. Conduct quantity take-off estimates from engineering drawings and specifications to calculate labor and material costs, supporting budget development and change management. Participate in prequalification proposal submissions and attend pre-bid meetings/site visits to clarify the scope of work and proposal requirements. Thoroughly review all bid packages prior to submission to ensure accuracy and completeness.

Qualifications



A minimum of 3 years of experience in Electrical estimating within a similar size Construction and/or Service company. Possession of a relevant trade license or the completion of a Construction or Engineering Diploma/Degree. At least 3 years of experience in the Construction and/or Service industry. Experience in project management and/or site supervision is considered an asset. Prior experience with estimating for institutional projects is highly desirable. Proficient in the use of computer applications, particularly MS Office Suite (with advanced skills in Excel and Project). Proficiency in Accubid and AutoCAD is required for this position. A comprehensive understanding of corporate and industry construction practices, processes, and standards, and their impact on project activities within Ontario. Strong ability to accurately read and interpret construction drawings. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with all stakeholders. Exceptional time management and organizational skills, with a proven track record of meeting deadlines. Ability to adapt to evolving project and business requirements. Capable of working efficiently in an office environment.
