THE OPPORTUNITY

We are looking for an Estimator to join our team with a strong background in manufacturing and construction processes. Reporting to the Director of Estimating, the successful candidate will play a critical role in developing accurate cost estimates, analyzing project specifications, and supporting bid strategies.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Prepare detailed and accurate project estimates based on drawings, specifications, and scope of work. Analyze proposals, drawings, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates. Collaborate internal teams including engineering, project management, and purchasing. Work closely with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain accurate pricing and maintain up-to-date cost databases. Identify cost-saving opportunities and value engineering options to improve bid competitiveness. Support the preparation of tender and proposal documents, including detailed breakdowns and narrative justifications. Participate in project hand-off meetings to ensure continuity and clarity between estimating and operations teams. Maintain awareness of current market trends and pricing in materials, labor, and subcontracted work. Support continuous improvement initiatives within the estimating process.

EXPERIENCE & OTHER REQUIREMENTS

College Diploma in Architectural Technology, Construction Management or a related field is preferred. 5+ years of estimating experience within glazing manufacturing or construction environment. Strong knowledge of estimation tools, material take-offs, and bid strategies. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications; advanced Excel skills are essential. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to identify risks and opportunities. Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to collaborate across teams and with external vendors. Self-motivated, adaptable, and able to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
