Role and Objectives:



The Estimator plays a key role in producing precise and competitive estimates for Mass Timber projects. This includes interpreting design documents, analyzing scope, and preparing compliant budgets, tenders, and quantity take-offs. With Kalesnikoff's continued growth and the expansion of our modular operations, this position provides the chance to support cutting-edge projects and be part of a company pushing the boundaries of Mass Timber construction.

Responsibilities:



Estimating & Cost Development



Build 3D geometry models off structural/architectural drawings for use in producing estimates. Solicit supply pricing and develop a solid understanding of products available in the market. Develop budgets using preliminary design documents. Provide options to the project team on how to modify designs to improve pricing. Use provided load calculations to determine material grades and connection types. Review quote requests to determine if projects are worth pursuing. Follow up and track quoted project work.

Tendering & Proposal Preparation



Review tenders and bid requests to ensure scopes of work match proposals. Review addendums to identify scope changes and determine their effect on project pricing. Put together quote documents outlining all pricing and relevant information. Prepare and assemble tender packages.

Design Coordination & Project Support



Attend design assist meetings and provide feedback to improve design or constructability of Mass Timber projects.

Requirements:



Education:



Post-secondary education in Civil Technology or Construction Technology

Experience:



2 years' experience in project management and/or estimating an asset. Experience with CADwork, Rhino, Revit, or other 3D design software would be an asset. Experience with Microsoft Office programs, Excel, Project, and estimate takeoff software such as Onscreen Takeoff or Bluebeam

Skills and Knowledge:



Ability to read and understand architectural and structural drawings. Ability to multi-task and prioritize to meet deadlines. Excellent verbal and written communications skills

Work Conditions:



Overtime as required. Very occasional exposure to dust, noise, and fumes if entering production facility. Use of Personal Protective Equipment may be required - when entering production facility, for example. (PPE may include hard-hat, safety boots, etc.) Desk work, with interruptions and an expectation of ability to refocus quickly.

Compensation Package:



Salary: $70,000.00 - $85,000.00 (Depending on education and experience) Schedule: Monday - Friday Extended health benefits including health, dental, vision, travel, Health Spending Account and RRSP program.
