Reporting to the Planning and Technical Manager, as an Estimator you will be in a technical role which supports sales and manufacturing by creating fast, consistent cost-estimates and quote proposals to ensure we land orders.
You will review the quote request and communicate with sales to determine what the best product configuration is to be quoted. You will be responsible for technical review of the quote request and will apply estimating rules to make recommendations on the material, part geometry and manufacturing process to quote.
Once an order is confirmed, you will use your estimated workings to complete an accurate document package to ensure production employees can make the part; including labor structure, material requirements, work instructions on the Bill of Materials.
You will also use the method or rules provided by each manufacturing department in a consistent manner to be "First and Fastest" when quoting our manufactured products.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Quickly, accurately and consistently cost estimates which suggest standard margins when required.
Consistently apply rules and methods provided by manufacturing to cost estimates in Excel format.
Review and interpret engineering and construction drawings and specifications in conjunction with sales/customers RFQs.
Suggest most economical solution for customers according to customer's guidelines based on our standard manufacturing rules.
Use a high level of technical knowledge, especially of polyurethane and rubber to make material suggestions based on the part application.
Work closely with sales to ensure they have all necessary production information for their customer and can make an informed decision on margins.
Create accurate BOMs within +/-5%.
Review all work orders prior to releasing to the shop to ensure material, ops, lead time, etc. are all correct and accurate.
Manage and update stock codes as required, to ensure system COGS are accurate and correct.
Source out special materials and work with purchasing department for material quotes.
Work closely with production and sales providing clear details to all.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Post-secondary degree or diploma in related field
Professional Experience in:
- Estimating CNC machining
- Reviewing drawings and specifications
- Project Management
Ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with customers and suppliers.
Self-starter who can prioritize and push projects forward independently and is deadline oriented.
Mathematical and analytical skills needed.
