Estimator / Marine Design Technologist
Location: Kelowna, BC | Full-Time
Shoreline Pile Driving is growing, and we're looking for a motivated, well-rounded Estimator / Marine Design Technologist to join our team. This hybrid role blends construction estimating with design/drafting responsibilities, perfect for someone with experience in civil, structural, or marine construction who enjoys both technical design work and practical problem-solving.
Whether you come from an estimating background, a drafting/design background, or a mix of both, we're open to shaping the position around your strengths. You'll work on a wide range of waterfront projects across the Okanagan, including docks, marinas, boat lifts, pile driving, and breakwaters.
Key Responsibilities
Develop detailed 2D and 3D drawings for docks, boat lifts, pile layouts, gangways, and breakwaters
Assist with estimates, material takeoffs, and pricing for new construction and repairs
Interpret site survey data and environmental conditions to create accurate, site-specific designs
Prepare and revise layout plans, component details, and construction drawings
Work alongside the permitting team to ensure designs comply with local, provincial, and federal regulations (Section 11, Crown Land Tenure, etc.)
Provide design support to project manager during builds
Maintain standard drawing libraries and support proposals with diagrams, renderings, and 3D models
What We're Looking For
Highly self-motivated and able to prioritize tasks, manage deadlines, and work independents
Diploma or certificate in Engineering Design, Drafting, Construction Estimating, or related field
Proficient in SketchUp (2D required; 3D and AutoCAD are strong assets)
Understanding of marine, civil, or structural construction methods
Experience with material estimating, takeoffs, or project costing (or willingness to learn)
Ability to read and interpret site plans, surveys, and geotechnical reports
Organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple projects
Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively
Preferred Assets (Not Required)
Experience with pile driving (pipe piles, helical piles, sheet piles)
Background in marine construction
Familiarity with heavy timber, aluminum, or steel frame construction
