Job Title: ESL Instructor
Location: St. John\xe2\x80\x99s, NL
Position Type: 6 full-time positions till March 31, 2024 with the possibility of extension pending budget availability and satisfactory performance
Number of Position: 6 Closing Date: April 11, 2023
The Association for New Canadians is seeking ESL Instructors. The ESL Instructor will assist adult learners in acquiring the language skills necessary to settle and integrate into Canadian society.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Prepare and deliver course materials (some resources are available);
- Instruct students and provide appropriate direction and feedback;
- Evaluate students\xe2\x80\x99 learning needs and adapt teaching style for success;
- Encourage sharing of cultures and foster dialogue on Canadian society;
- Prepare and submit monthly reports.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor of Education and/or recognized TESL/TEFL Diploma/Certificate preferred, or equivalent training and experience
- A passion for working with people from diverse cultures and varying educational backgrounds
- Excellent command of English language, both written and oral
- Experience in teaching/adult education and strong commitment to student learning
Conditions of Employment
- Flexibility to work outside of agreed upon hours when needed.
- Position is subject to receipt of a satisfactory Certificate of Conduct and Vulnerable Sector Check from the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary or RCMP.
