Position Title: ESL Coordinator

Position Type: Contract

Reports To: Executive Director

Hours: 25 hours per week

Position Summary: Responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operation of the Welland Heritage Council\'s ESL Program.

This program will include:

  • Maintains, evaluates, and improves the district ESL plan and program
  • Lead the ESL team, including facilitating monthly team meetings and coordinating the ESL program strategic planning process
  • Pull out and push in support programs for ESL students as appropriate
  • Oversees the adoption and implementation of ESL curriculum, including a newcomer program
  • Supports ESL teachers and provides appropriate professional development
  • Assists school administrators in implementing ESL plans
  • Coordinates ESL data collection and reporting at the school and district levels
  • Maintains records of all ESL students and their status
  • Ensures that all federal and provincial reporting requirements are met.
  • Coordinates testing of ESL students
  • Coordinates ESL testing accommodations for all annual assessments
Credentials Required
  • Respect and adhere to confidentiality policies of the Welland Heritage Council and Multicultural Centre.
  • Work with English as a Second Language Instructors to provide Life Skills training and resources to clients
  • Set up Assessment appointments through the HARTS System.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date client database and files
  • Prepare monthly reports on clients, annual reports, and action plans for the Executive Director to present to the funder.
  • Excellent project management, organizational, and writing skills.
  • Strong problem-solving, decision-making, creative thinking, and listening abilities.
  • Passion for providing excellent customer service.
  • Desire to work in a fast-paced, intense work environment.
  • Past success in education and service industries.
  • Strong leadership, motivation, customer service, and communication skills.
  • Meticulous attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage time well with strategies in place to multi-task successfully.
  • Ability to motivate others and drive high performance.
  • Must have a current police check.
  • Bilingual in English and a second language is an asset.
  • Other duties assigned by management.
